LEXINGTON The annual
dinner party of the Amicitia
club was en loved Saturday
evening at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. F.lden Tad berg. The party
is held once each year when
members entertain the husbands
with tinner and an evening of
pinochle. Spaghetti was served
as the main part of the menu.
Prize winners were Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Martin, high: Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Cole, second high: C,
C. Carmichael. men's low, and
Mrs. AI rewch. womens low.
Those attending were Mr. and
Mrs. William J. Van Winkle, Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Davidson. Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Lovgren, Mr. and Mrs.
Roger Camobell. Mr. and Mrs.
C. C. Carmichael and guest.
Vesta Kilkenny, Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Cole, Mr. and Mrs. AI
Fetsch, and the host and host
ess, Mr. and Mrs. Elden Pad-
berg.
Mrs. Gar Loyva and Mrs.
Hugo Leyva and son of Gold
Hill and Mrs. Mae Levva of
Lakevlew were recent oailers at
the Roy Martin home. They had
been visiting at the Greg Leyva
home near La Grande and were
enroute home.
Wilbur Stengall has returned
home after malor surgery In a
Pendleton hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Steagall
were recent Fossil visitors.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cochenour
and family of The Dalles were
recent Heppner and Lexingt-n
visitors.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Breeding
and daughter Debbie were re
cent callers at the home of his
mother, Mrs. Lola Breeding, from
their home in Caldwell, Idaho.
They also visited friends and
relatives in Heppner this oast
week, including her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ott.
Mrs. Max Breeding and sons
Donald and Dale of Portland
spent the week in Lexington
and Heppner visiting relatives
and friends. Mr. Breeding drove
to Lexington last Wednesday
and they all returned home
Sunday. Mrs. Lola Breeding
went as far as Hood River where
she will visit her daughter, Mrs.
Wanda Jones, and family.
Mrs. Arnold Pieper is a patient
in Community hospital in Pen
dleton where she is recuperating
from a broken foot.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Leach of
Portland drove to Lexington one
day last week bringing Mrs.
Trannie Parker to her home af
ter spending the winter months
in Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marsh
all returned Sunday from Omak,
Wash., where they were guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Way.
Mrs. Florence McMillan spent
tne weeK-ena in Pendleton at
the home of her daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Cool, and family.
Asa Way of Portland was a
Lexington visitor enroute to
Long Creek where he joined his
wife who has been visiting
there. He is to graduate
from Portland State College and
has accepted a position in Min
neapolis, Minn., and will soon
move there with his family.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones and
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Majeske-
traveled to areas In Eastern
Oregon on Memorial Day.
Mr. and Mrs. C C. Jones were
In Portland on Monday where
Mrs. Jonei attended the State
Grange Sewing Contest at the
State Grange Headquarters.
Winners from the state will be
sent to the national where they
will be judged In June at the
national level.

The Morrow County Gem and
Mineral Club held a meeting
Saturday evening, May 23, with
Walt Edger, vice-president, In
charge.
Mrs. George Miller presented
the program, with further dis
cussion and a card quiz on
agate! and other rocks relative
to them.
On Sunday, May 26. Mr. and
Mrs. Miller, Avery Taylor, Mr.
and Mrs. Pete McMurtrv and Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Gonty traveled to
the Lucky Agate Mine between
Mitchell and Prlnevnlle where
they dug for thunder eggs. Most
of the group are quite enthused
over their finds.
After leaving the mine, the
Millers and Avery Tavlor drove
Into the Painted Hills Park. Mr.
and Mrs. Gonty visited Mr. and
Mrs. Armln Wihlon and Mr. and
Mrs. B. C Allen In Redmond.
Mrs. Allen is the sister of Bar
ton Clark.
Next club meeting will be a
potluck dinner meeting on Sat
urday, June 22. when members
will work on articles for the
Sidewalk Bazaar.
Refreshments were served by
Mr. and Mrs. Miller.
Door prize was won by Wal
ter Duran, a nephew of Mi's.
Pete McMurtry. Mr. and Mrs.
Duran came from their homo
near Hermiston and were guests
of the McMurtrvs.
