formerly a resident of Kinzua.

from Spanaway, Wash., and
came home with the Earl Nor
ris' to visit her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Don Culver of Service
Creek. On Monday, Mrs. tan
Norris and Mrs. Kenneth Nor
ris returned to Portland where
Judy went on to her home at
Spanaway and Mrs. tan isoms
remained for further medical
care.

Birth of Daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rogers
of Milpitas, Calif., are announc
ing the birth of a second dau
ghter, Michelle Anne, on Friday,
April 5, weighing 6 lb., 12 oz.
The mother is the former Carole
Anderson. The new little dau
ghter joins a 2 Ms -year-old sis
tor Havnn

of Albany, fomer Heppner resi
dents, and paternal grandpar
ents are Mr. and Mrs. Tyler
Rogers of Pleasant Grove, Utah.

In Vietnam Strike
U. S. Air Force Captain Don
ald E. Thomas, whose wile,
Churlene, Is the daughter of Mr.
and Mm. L. II. Rill, Heppner,
recently participated In a suc
cessful strike mission 17 miles
northwest of Hue. Vietnam.
Capt. Thomas and a fellow A
37 fighter-bomber pilot hM a
Viet Cong command post In sup
port of the 1st Air Cuvalry Div
ision. Thev were also credited
with destroying four enemy for
tifications. The captain Is a member of
the 001th Air Commando Squad
ron based at Plelku AB. Viet
nam. A graduate of Gettysburg
(S. D.) Public High school, he
attended the University of South
Dukota and the University of
Southern California.
He was commissioned through
the aviation cadet program.
Riding Club Holds
Two Recent Meetings
The Blackhorse 4 H Riders club
met at the home of the lead
ers, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Steagall
on April 13. Kristl Haguewood,
vice-president, conducted the
business meeting. Becky Doher
ty reported that information on
the Father of the Year candidate
had been turned in. Cindy Brock
and Diana Raymond were wel
comed as new members. Parts
of the horse and saddle were
reviewed. Ice cream and cookies
were served.
On April 15 the club met in
the conference room at the
county agent's office. Mr. Win
ters showed a 50-minute movie
on "Youth and Quarterhorses"
which was very helpful and In

tend the cow cutting events,
held on Sunday at the rodeo
grounds.
