To Guest Companions
At Mountain Meeting
Heppner Chapter of Royal
Arch Manonn entertalnr-d com
panion from Oregon, Washing
ton and Idaho at their annual
mountain outdoor conferral on
Saturduy afternoon and evening,
July 1, at Cutsforth Park.
Chapter wag opened In short
form at 3:30 p.m. and the even
ing ceremonies began about 7:30
p.m., at which time all dlgnl
tarien were escorted to the Kant,
Introduced and extended the
proper Masonic honors. Those
Included dignitaries from Wash
ington, Idaho and Oregon;
Crand Scribe Paul Jones, and
District Deputy of the Grand
High Priest Harold Beeket.
The Royal Arch degrees were
conferred to Don Gilliam, Al Bo
schee and George Simonson, all
of Heppner. The degree work
was beautifully presented, and
appreciation was extended to
Jim Davidson, Grand Master of
the Third Veil of Idaho, and
Norman Hoard, Grand Master of
the Third Veil of Oregon for
their assistance In the ceremo
nies. Prior commitments for the
Royal Cross of Honor degree at
I he Dalles cut attendance from
Milton-Freewater, Baker, La
Grande and other nearby areas,
nut about 70 members were
present.
Hot cakes and sausage was
the menu at noon, and the an
nual steak dinner was served at
5:30 p.m.
Wives of the visiting Royal
Arch men, who accompanied
their husbands here, were en
tertained by local Masonic
wives. After enjoying some of
the Sidewalk Bazaar event,
they gathered for dinner in the
Masonic hall. Card games were
in Dlav during the evening.
A good attendance of about 30
women were present, coming
from Richland, Kennewick, H
gard, Oswego, Portland, Wheel
er and Fossil, Mrs. Jim David
son and Mrs. Norman Hoard
wives of Idaho and Oregon
Grand Masters, were .among
those present.
Mrs. Paul Jones served as
chairman for the planning com
mittee, assisted by Mrs. Howard
Bryant and Mrs. Harold Becket,
Summer Trip Takes
Girl to Exposition
A tour of "Expo '67" In Mon
treal, Canada, was a highlight
for Karla Weatherford, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weath
erford, during an enjoyable
month's vacation trip nl the
east.
Karla left June 13 on her first
plane trip, flying to Erie, Pa.,
with stops in Chicago and Cleve
land and returned Sunday, July
16. In Erie she visited Mrs. Dor
othy Livingston, who was a
close friend and wedding atten
dant of Karla s late mother.
Karla accompanied the Liv
ingstons to Canada, visiting Ni
agara Falls en route. They
spent 2', t days sightseeing
among thp Interesting exhibits
at Expo '67 In Montreal, and
were especially Impressed with
the national buildings entered
from France and Thailand.
Crowds and lack of time pre
vented them from seeing as
much of the exposition as they
would have liked to have seen.
Their return trip to Erie took
them through Quebec where
they toured the Thetford Mines,
and stopped at places of histor
ical Interest around Boston and
Buffalo. On her return flight
home, Karla was an overnight
visitor with her mother's cous
ins, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nel
son at Fondu Lac, Wise. She
was met In Portland by her parents.

The bride, given In marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
pcau de sole with empire waist
and short sleeves, trimmed with
pearls and lace, and chapel
train. Her finger ti plied veil was
held by a crown of pearls. She
wore white gloves and carried
a spray of white hladloli.
Delma Porter of Hood River
was maid of honor, and brides
maids were Deanna Itiney nnd
Gloria. Haldiiio, cousins of the
bride. All the attendants wore
yellow gowns of creK georgette,
with ilacron waist trimmed in
I white daisies, and net headpiec
j es. They had shoes of yellow
satin and carried hoiuiucts of
yellow and white daisies and
red roses.
Best man was Greg Bedord,
brother of the groom, l.'shers
were Vance Mm-, Brush Prairie,
Wash., and Larry .linker of
Kennewick, Wash., both cousins
of the proom.
Cantllellghters were Terry
Haves of Condon, cousin of the
bride, and Billle Bedord, brother
of the groom.
Darla Hayes was ringbearer
nnd Stacey Hayes wa.s flower
girl, both cousins of the bride.
Mrs. Joe Tatone was hostess
for the reception at the Green
field Grange hall, assisted by
Mrs. Arthur Allen, Mrs. Ken
Jenkins and Mrs. liollln Bishop.
The four-tiered cake, topped with
bells, was cut and served by
Mrs. John Baldlno of Portland,
aunt of the bride, and Barbara
LeTraee of Hermlston, cousin of
the bride. Mrs. Jeff Hayes of
Condon, aunt of the bride, pour
ed the coffee, and Mrs. Charles
lliguera of Othello, Wash., aunt
of the groom, served the punch.
Mrs. Melvln Hayes of Condon,
aunt of the bride, had the guest
book, and Leslie Cline of Port
land, was nt the gift table.
There were 125 guests.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Beall wore a yellow linen
dress with lace coat with mint
green accessories, and had a
white orchid corsage. The
groom's mother chose a white
bunded lace dress with beige ac
cessories. Her corsage was a cof
fee orchid. Mrs. Walter Hayes
and Mrs. Mary Beall of Port
land, grandmothers of the bride,
and Mrs. Guy Ferguson and Mrs.
Mel Debeck of Frenchtown,
Mont., grandmothers of the
groom, all wore corsages of pink
carnations.
The bride is a 19GG graduate
of South Eugene High school
nnd attended tho University of
Oregon last year. The groom Is
a 1901 graduate of Kiverside
High school nnd has attended
Kastern Oregon College nnd
Blue Mountain Community Col
lege. After a trip to the coast they
are living in Boardman.
Out of town guests attended
from Othello, Brush Prairie,
Vancouver and Kennewick,
Wash.; Missoula and French
town, Mont.; Ashland, Maupin,
Irrigon, La Grande, Crabtree,
Heppner, Condon, Portland, Mik
knlo, Hermlston, and Mosier.
The Rev. and Mrs. Don Mc-
Carty and family left after even
ing service at the Church of the
Nazarene June 28 for an extend
ed vacation and visit with their
pnrents In Albuquerque, N. M.
They planned to return some
time before July 23.
