Youth Attend Future Teacher Sessions At EOC

Maureen MeK'lligoit have re
turned from spondng a week on
the Kastern Oregon College
campus at La Grande where
thev attended the Youth Confer
ence on Teaching.
The girls attended classes
taught by the professors of the
collect, who discussed tlto dif
ferent fields of teaching and the
manner of preparation for a
teaching career. They observed
summer school classes of child
ren from the kindergarten
through the sixth grade. The
girls actually had the pleasure
of teaching a kindergarten class.
Among side trips planned for
the students were a trip to Wal
lowa Lake: observing classes nt
the Meadow Woods Speech
Therapy Camp, and going to

home last Thursday for its reg
ular meeting. Plans were made
for the summer months and re
ports on the HEC work carried
on at State Grange were heard.
Next meeting Is planned for the
June Chrlstopherson home.
Those present were Mrs. Ella
Burgoyne, Mrs. Kenneth Smouse
and son Carl, Mrs. Noru Turner,
Mrs. Ola Ruggles, Mrs. Martha
VanSchoiack. Mrs. Wilbur Stea
gall, Mrs. Bob Davidson, Mrs.

has recently received her dis
charge from the Women's Army
Corps, visited Saturday at the

Joan Burcham, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burcham.
who has spent several weeks at
Good Samaritan hospital in
Portland, is recuperating from
injuries received in a car aeci- !
dent at the home of her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Majeske
have returned from a couple of
weeks in Maupin and Portland.
They helped move their daugh
ter and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Mounts, to their new hi, me
in Portland from Maupin. Gene
Majeske motored to Portland to
bring his father home while
Mrs. Majeske remained for a
longer visit.
Mr. and Mrs. George Hermann
and daughters and Mr. and Mrs.
Alex Hunt enjoyed an outing at
Lehman Springs on Sunday. Mr.
and Mrs. Hunt and the Herman
girls had been there for a week's
outing and returned with the
Hermanns.
Alonzo Henderson of Hood
River was a Lexington visitor
one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Martin and
girls of Portland visited one day
this week at the Roy Martin
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Moreau
of Seattle were callers at the
C. C. Jones ranch over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Emery M. Breed
ing and sons of Portland is
spending a week in Lexington
visiting friends and relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Skip Ruhl have
moved into the E. E. Peck home.
Mrs. Skip Ruhl was called to
California by the serious illness
of her mother who is a patient
in a hospital there.
Mr. and Mrs. George Zumwalt
and family were visitors in Ba
ker over the week-end, with
their daughter and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Art Peterson. They
brought the Peterson children
home with them for a week's
visit. Other guests of the Zum
walt family were his brother
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Zuwalt from Arkansas.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Morey of
Portland visited recently with
her mother, Mrs. Myra Peck.
Donna and Glenn Miles, child
ren of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miles
of Clarkston, have been visiting
their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
M. V. Nolan.

recent visitor at the home of
her daughter and family, Mr.
