County Red Cross
Quota Nearly Met
In Campaign Drive
Morrow County Red Cross
campaign workers have brought
to a close the 1967 Red Cross
fund drive In the county with an
almost but not quite meeting
of the county's quota. Quota as
signed to Morrow county for
this year was $1393.00 and the
totul amount of money raised
wns lust (115.40 short, at Jl,
277.M. According to Joe Balfe, Mor
row county fund drive chair
man, all towns In the county
contributed to the drive which
wus conducted during the
months it April and May.
Balfc praised his volunteer
workers and extended a heart

For Festival Parade
The Arlington Rodoo Court Is
busy this week making last
minute preparations to ride In
the long route of the Portland
Hose Festival parndo on Sutur
duy. They had received notice
of their selection several wcoks

Janet Palmuteer of lone, wear
ing attractive pink riding outfits,
will mount their matching sor
rel horses at an early hour for
the parade. Many who will be
unable to see them in person
will watch for them In the tele
vision coverage.
The court was also among
those who were seen In the
Umatilla Sage Kldors Show at
Umatilla Saturday night, and
will be seen In other fair and
rodeo parades In the area
throughout the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dalzell
traveled to the home of their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mm. Wallace Caarsland, at
Eagle Creek for the week end.
While there they attended the
eighth grade graduation of a
aaugnier, Marianne Williams,
from her school at Estacada.
The Dalzells were accompanied
by Mm, George York of Mikkalo.
Class is Cancelled
A summer typing class for be
ginners, previously scheduled to
start June 19, has been cancel
led, according to Dick Carpen
ter, high school principal, due
to lack of sufficient number en
rolled. The four-week's course
had boon planned for seventh
and eighth graders and high
school freshmen. By the close
of schools on June 2, however,
there was not a large enough
group signed to make the claaa
worthwhile.

Cheryl A. Morrison of lone has
won one of the top journalism
awards for this year at Oregon
State University, the OSU News
Bureau states.
