County Appeals
For Foster Homes
Morrow county has sounded
an appeal, through County
Judge Paul Jones and Lowell
Chally, welfare administrator,
for those willing to provide fos
ter homes for children.
The judge said that there is a
dire need for such homes to
care for some Juveniles who
have been placed In custody of
the county. Anyone willing to
provide foster home care is ask
ed to contact the judge or the
welfare administrator.

Army Depot Plans
For Open House
Umatilla Army Depot officials
at Hermixton announced the ap
pointment of Leonard W. Pen-
or, operations division cniel, as
activities chairman lor the De
pot's Armed Forces Day open
house slated for May 19. Assist
ant chairman for the annual
event Is Richard A. Anderson,
civilian personnel officer.
The two men will head plan
ning and coordinating of activ
ities intended to carry out lo
cally this year's theme for Arm
ed Forces Day, "A Report to the
Nation.
Penor said the day's schedule
Isn't "Jelled" yet, but that ten
tative plans are coming along
well and a firm program is to
be announced shortly.
Officials at the Depot decided
to observe Armed Forces Day
on a regular work day this year,
though nationally It has been
designated as the third Satur
day In May. Reason for the de
cision to hold open house at the
Depot on May 19, according to
Penor, Is that difficulties would
be encountered In attempting to
rearrange schedules for shift
workers, and pay inequities
might result If the regular Mon
day through Friday work week
were altered.

The Wolf Cub Scouts have
completed this year's protect,
"Knowing Our Community".

21 Inches Snow
Yet at Arbuckle
At the last of April, 21.12 In
ches of snow remained at the
Arbuckle Mountain snow survey
site. Ralph Richards reported
last week. The water content
was 6'- Inches and the density
was 30'4.
"In other years we had snow
on the last of April swing In
1955 where there were 41 Inches
and 15.7 Inches of water and In
1963 with 6.2 inches and 2.1 In
ches ot water," he said.

evening. The dinner was plan

dleton Civic Music Association,
who are now conducting their
membership drive. Mrs. Martin
is receiving membership for the
lone area.
Clow's Spaniel Adds
Six Winner's Points
Toward Champion
A Brittany Spaniel male. Black
Butte's Ace Wild, owned by Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Clow of Hepp
ner, took "best of breed" over 13
other Brittanys at the Richland,
Wn. Kennel club's all breed dog
show on April 29. The day be
fore, at Walla Walla, he was
judged "reserve winner's dog,"
and on April 30 he was Judged
"winners dog" at the Yakima
Kennel club's all breed show.
For the winnings, he added
two new trophies to his collec
tion of field trial and show tro
phies, and gained six points to
ward his show championship.
He now has a total of 10 points
toward the 15 needed.
Ace's sister, Black Butte's
Touche. was judged reserve
winners bitch . at all three
shows.
Rev. and Mrs. Dirk Rinehart's
Springer Spaniel bitch, Walter
ock Abigail, won the first points
of her show career by being sel
ected "winners bitch" at the
Richland show, for a total of
two points.
Cooking Club Meets
The Cookettes 4-H club met
at the home of Mrs. Wallace
Wolff on April 25. We read from
our book, called "Mealtime
Fun". We decided what kinds of
sandwiches we would make for
our next meeting.
