BY HOME REPAIR RACKETEERS
With the arrival of Spring comes the Robin . . . and
usually, right behind him is a whole flock of strangers
soliciting orders for Siding, Awnings, Windows, Doors,
Roofing, etc . . . Should you be solicited . . . "Don't get
YOUR tail salted" . . .
BEWARE OF THE HOME
IMPROVEMENT 'GYP'
PROPERTY OWNERS WOULD DO WELL TO READ
THE FOLLOWING HOME IMPROVEMENT HINTS:
1 , Chitk any "bargain" offer presented by a stranger which seems unrealistic
BEFOKE you deposit any money or sign any agreement.
2 Let NO ONE begin ANY work on your property before you ascertain the
reliability of the firm they represent.
3 Beware of the "bargain Job" or any idea that your home will be a "mod
el home" for "advertlslnc" purposes, entitling you to a rebate or com
mission, or a "Special Offer which will soon expire.
Insist on knowing the TOTAL cost of labor and materials . . . don't rely
' on verbal promises. Require the solicitor to leave proposed forms with
you for further consideration, and refuse to deal with him further if he
is unwilling to comply.
C Remember that the firm may not be too greatly interested in the matter
" of materials, quality or payment, because it will have a mechanic's lien
on your property in case of non-payment.
May we suggest
Before you purchase any home improvement deal
from strangers, consult a LOCAL attorney, merchant
contractor, financial institution or the Chamber of
Commerce.
Above All . . .
COMPARE PRICES and MATERIALS
WITH LOCAL DEALERS FIRST!
