Residents Travel
During The Holidays

neer Memorial hospital. The
baby weighed 6 lb., and has
boon named Richard Gene.

Mr. and Mrs. Doll Williams of
Fossil.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Porrv
went to Mi. Vernon last Wed
nesday to spend the holiday
with Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Hall.

den Tripp were business visit
ors to Stanfield last Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Browning
and daughter Linda spent their
Thanksgiving holiday in Pendle
ton ami La Grande.

ker Wednesday evening to spend
the holidays with Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Spivey and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lorengel
and son Lee spent Thanksgiv
ing at Richland, Wash., with
relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mitch
ell left Thursday for Fort Hood,
Texas, where Mr. Mitchell is sta
tioned with the U. S. Army.
Bob Sizemore is home again
after completing his enlistment
time with the Navy. He had
been stationed in California.

and Mrs. Harold Mangum were
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hudson and
family of St. Helens Mr. and
Mrs. Guy Williams of Prine
ville, and Mr. and Mrs. Dell
Williams of Fossil.
Mr. and Mrs. John Mills of
Bend were business visitors here
last Monday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Medlock
and sons Mike and John went
to Post Falls, Idaho Wednesday
to spend Thanksgiving with Mr.
and Mrs. William Messer
schmidt. Randy Medlock stayed
at the Jiggs Bowman home dur
ing their absence.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jordan and
family went to Mitchell Thurs
day to have dinner with Mr. and
Mrs. Mark Jordan and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ellis and
Melody went to Tygh Valley
Thursday to have Thanksgiving
dinner with Mr. and Mrs.
George Ellis and family. When
they returned home Saturday
they brought Fred Ellis home
with them.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hawk and
family went to Prineville
Thursday to spend Thaksgiv-
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Willard
Wilholm. They had medical at
tention on Friday for their in
fant son Billy.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Kinsolla of
Manza.iin spent from Wednes
day until Friday with Mr. and
Mrs. Slim Rhoton. On Saturday
the Rhotons wont to The Dalles
where they both had medical
care.

Matteson and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Herschol Mur
dock were in Condon last Wed
nesday where Mr. Murdock had
medical care.
Mrs. Frank Ferrel who had
surgery last Tuesday is report
ed to be doing fine and expects
to be released by December 2.
Mr. and Mrs. Rod Hulett re
turned home Saturday from
Portland where thev had spent
since Thursday with their son
Corky and his family.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Woods
have received word of new twin
grandsons, born on November
25 to Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Lo
gan of Salem. The babies have
been named Brett Allen and
Brvan Lee and joins sisters
Rhonda. Vicki and Terri.

Sgt. Jim Chauncey
Dies in Okinawa
TSfit. James B. Chauncey,
who formerly was stationed
with the iWt'h Radar Squadron.
Condon, and was known to
many persons in the Hoppner
area, has died of natural caus
es at Kadena Air Base on Oki
nawa. SSct. Tom F.rwin. also former
ly at Condon and now nt Mt.
l.ommon Air Force Station.
Ariz., reported the death to the
Gazette-Times. Sgt. Krwin said
that the death notice was pub
lished in the November lt edit
ion of the Air Force Times. No
details wore available.
Sgt. Chauncey was in charge
of publication of the radar
squadron's monthly newspaper.
The Scope, for more than a year
and worked with the Gazette
Times in publishing it. He a'.so
made appearances at the Chain-
her of Commerce here and lone
Lions club in connection with
his work as public information
officer. Sgt. Chauncev is known
to business people here. too.
through work he did in spare
time for the Gazette-Times on
advertising. He helped put out
one issue of the Gazette-Times
when the publishers were gone
for a week two years ago, and
had anticipated entering some
phase of newspaper work upon
his retirement from the Air
Force within a few years.
Sgt. Erwin took over supervis
ing publication of The Scope
after Sgt. Chauncey left for
Okinawa, but he was transfer
red to Arizona about three
months ago.
It was during the time that
Sgt. Chauncey was working on
the paper that The Scope won
first place in the United States
for base newspapers in its cat
egory in the Air Defense Command.
Lexington Grange
Slates Dinner Meet
Turkey dinner at 6 p.m. with
the turkey being furnished by
the Home Economics club is
scheduled for the Lexington
Grange Saturday night. Decem
ber 10. in the grange hall. Mem
bers are asked to bring salads
and desserts.
The dinner is for all mem
bers, their families and friends.
Grange meeting will be at 8
p.m.
There will be treats for child
ren, and a program will con
sist of musical numbers, devo
tionals and a talk by Al Bo-schee.
