Soil Conservation
Society to Meet
Earl N. Jones, Bond, president.
j Oregon Chapter of Soil Conser
vation Society of America, has
announced that their annual
meeting will be held at the
Cosmopolitan Motor Hotel In
Fortland. December 1 and 2.
Jones urges that anyone inter
ested in soil conservation should
plan to attend this yearly
meeting.
The regular executive com
mittee meetine will bo held at
1 2:00 p.m. December 1 with a
1 business dinner meeting open to
all chapter members and guests
to follow that evening at 7:00
p.m. All major items of busi
ness will be discussed Decem
ber 2.
The highlight of the noon
luncheon on Friday will be an
address by Wright Hiatt, execu
tive director, Western States
Water Council on "Interests of
Western States Water Council."
Mr. Hiatt is well versed on his
subject and should bring a
wealth of information to the
group. Another feature of the
luncheon will be recognition to
Elmer Peterson, retiring presi
dent of the Oregon Association
of Soil and Water Conservation
Districts, and John Denison,
Conservation Agronomist with
the Soil Conservation Service,
for their National Honorary
Mem b e r and Commendation
awards in the national Soil
Conservation Society of Ameri
ca. Several awards by the Ore
gon chapter for 1966 will also
be made.
