Tests Indicate Low 1
Average Wheat Protein
By gene winters
Many things mav bo said
about this year's wheat crop in
Morrow county, but from the
standpoint of protein, it initial
ly appears to bo a "vintage"
year.
With about half the protein
analysis of local wheats collect
ed at the various elevators being
completed at the Pendleton Ex
periment Station, preliminary
data showed a county average
of near 7 percent protein.
Foreign cash customers of
Pacific Northwest grown white
wheats have indicated an inter
est in low protein.
While final results may not
be available for a few weeks,
protein readings averaging less
than 7 percent in UHj would
compare to 9.3 in 1965. S.6 in
19tV4. and 7-2 in 19t3.
Seeding Charts for Widths
And Rates Made Available
In preparation for fall seed

The chart indicates the seeds
per foot of drill row at various
drill widths and seeding rates.
This seeding rate information
chart will be especially helpful
when first starting to drill or
when calibrating before going
into the field.
Charts are available from the
