In California with relative. She

Jerry Van Kpps, at Bellflower.
Mr. and Mra. Randolph brought
her home.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Palmer and
family vacationed at Loat Lake
from Thursday to Sunday. They
camped out and caught lota of
fish. On Saturday they were
joined by Mr. and Mrs. Dean
Connor and family and Lincoln
Nash of Heppner.
Mr. and Mm. Raymond l.un
dell and Cheryle left on Wed
nesday for a few dava In Port
land and at Surf tides on the
beach.

Mr. and Mrs. Snider and fam
ily went on to Cannon Beach
for a week'a vacation before the
start of school.
Attend Wedding
Mrs. Oscar Lundell. Mr. and
Mrs. Franklin Llndstrom, Mr.
and Mrs. Carland Swanson, and
Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Undstrom
spent the week-end In Boise,
where thev attended the wed
ding of Mrs. Lundell's grand
daughter, Janet Klalne Lundell.
Jnnet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harland Lundell, was married
to John Ahlln Jr. at a 6:30 cer
emony In Sacred Heart Church
on Saturday, August 20, follow
ed bv a reception and dance at
the Elks' Starlight Room. Tho
young couple will make their
home In Boise, where the groom,
will continue his schooling at
Boise College.
Mrs. Lundell was to visit the

From Haines they took the

Ketchikan, where fishing for

days the family left for Prince
Rupert and went back to Prince

to the state of Washington and

niece and family, Mrs. John
Clerf. Jr. Their son, Jack Clerf,
returned to Cecil with the fain- family In Boise until Tuesday

al Friday evening and will un
dergo surgery sometime this

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ilea and
girls of Portland spent the
week-end at the Lewis Halvor
sen homo and attended the
Shrine game.
Pierces Visit
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pierce
and Robin came over from Red
mond on the week-end to visit
her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Har
old Sherer. Mrs. Pierce and Rob-
In remained for a longer visit,
but Mr. Pierce went home on
Sunday.
Miss Judy Mason of Pico Riv
era, Calif., Is a guest at the
homo of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Halvorsen, She was accompa
nied from Portland by her bro
ther, Jerry. Miss Mason and a
friend, Donna Melnlg, have
been on a month's tour of the
U. S. They visited many Na
tional Parks, Including Zlon and
Bryce Parks, the Crand Canyon,
Yellowstone Park, Bad Lands in
South Dakota and Mt. Rush
more, and Mesa Verde. While In
the East they went to Gettys
burg, Pa.; Washington, D. C;
New York City and then went
to Cape Cod and the 1000
Islands, N. Y. on the St. Law
rence Seaway before going to
Toronto and Niagara Falls. The
girls made the trip by car.
Water Skiers Place
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Helmble-
ner and Tom and Linda, Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen and
sons, Judy and Jerry Mason and
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halvorsen,
who have been visiting here
from Medford, drove to Pa.sco
on Sunday for the Washington
State Chump Ion Ski Show.
Frank Halvorsen placed third In
boys' Jump and Tom Helmblg-
ner won third place in mens
Jump.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rietmann
and family have returned from
a trip to taooma to visit friends.
From there they went to visit
Ft. Lewis, and came down tho
Washington Coast and crossed
the new bridge at Astoria and
stopped In Seaside for some fun
at the beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Balslger
of The Dalles stopped In lone
at Uic Victor Bletmann resi
dence on their way homo from
a trip to northeastern Oregon
and the Wallowa Mountains.
Vacation at Beach
Mr. and Mrs. Donald McElll
gott and family returned on
Sunday from a vacation at the
beach and at East Lake, where
they camped out with Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Crabtrce and Mr. and
Mrs. L. A. McCabe and girls,
who hud been there all week.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker left
on Thursday for Spokane.
Mrs. Mary Swanson returned
on Tuesday from a trip to San
Francisco with her daughter,
Mrs. Elmo McMillan, of Salem.
Carl Bergstrom and his son,
Roland, spent from Tuesday to
Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.
Dale Brown of Long Beach, Wn.
They went deep sea fishing and
came home with some nice sal
mon. Mr. and Mrs. James Barnett
spent Saturday and Sunday In
Portland and Gresham visiting
relatives. They brought home
D-Ann, who has been spending
a couple of weeks with her aunt
and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Barnett.
Back From Hawaii
Linda Helmblgner has return
ed from a vacation spent In
the Hawaiian Islands, where
she toured several of the Is
lands. She will visit her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Helm
blgner, for two weeks before
going to Beaverton where she
will teach this year.
Robert and Phlll Emert Jr.
had the misfortune to wreck
Robert's car on Wednesday af
ternoon driving home from the
Echo ranch. The boys went to
sleep, having gotten up very
early that morning. Phlll spent
the night In Pioneer Memorial
hospital and had several stitch
es taken In his face.
Mrs. E. C. Hellker has return
ed from a visit with her dau
ghter. Mrs. Harriet Bolman, at
Seattle, together they took a
tour of the San Juan Islands
and spent some time visiting
Victoria, B. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Crow
ell and family and Mr. and
Mrs. George Griffith and family
spent the week-end camping on
me

lowas.
Attend Insurance Meet
Mr. and Mrs. Adon Hamlett
and family spent Saturday In
Portland, where Mr. and Mrs.
Hamlett attended the state
meeting and a luncheon of the
Combined Insurance Company
at the Portland Hilton Hotel.
The children visited friends in
the city, while their parents

Mrs. Franklin Ely returned on
Sunday from Portland, where
she has been attending summer

were among those traveling to

50th wedding anniversary of Mr.
and Mrs. Francis Harrison. Mrs
Padberg Is a nelce of the Harrisons.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Llnds
trom returned on Tuesday from
a trip to La Blche, Alberta, Can
ada. They took the household
effects for Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Hausler and family there by
truck. Upon their arrival at La
Biche, the Hauslers found the
living conditions had been mis
represented to them and so they
have returned to Joseph and
Hausler will teach In Wallowa
county this year. ;
Jepsens Co To Medford
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jepsen
and family were to leave on
Wednesday for Medford, where
they will attend the Amateur
Radio Operators' convent 1 o n.
From there they will go to Flor
ence to visit the Noel Dobyns
and to Salem to the State Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. RobeTt Rietmann
and family spent several days
camping In the Wallowas and
on the Imnaha River and at
Fish Lake and other points of
interest in that area. On Satur
day they took their son, John,
to Camp Adams for Junior
Camp.
Savings Bonds
Sales Set Record
"Both locally and nationally,
July Is the fifth successive
month to show Impressive gains
in U. S. Savings Bonds sales
over 1965," Morrow County Sav
ings Bonds Chairman John Ven
ard annouced here today In his
monthly report to county resi
dents. "County-wide s a I es totaled
$4,903 during the month, con
tributing to the state record of
$3,280,354 as compared with July
sales in the state a year ago o f
$2,780,287, the chairman reported-

July Savings Bonds sales In
Oregon show an increase of al
most 18 percent over a year ago.
Oregon's sales for the first seven
months this year totaled $20,334,
243, an increase of 11 percent
over 1965.
"Nationally, E Bond sales are
setting postwar records, with
July salej at $411 million, for
both E ard H Bonds, six perceut
higher than July of 1965. The
cash value of E and II Bonds
outstanding at the end of July
is $49,798 million as compared
with $49,894 million in July of
last year."
