ACCUSED; PRICES
TOO LOW
As has long boon rumored the Stewart Gang operating
throughout I'matilla County Is now being openly accused of
selling their merchandise too low.
When you really stop and think about it, how can they
sell so cheap and Rive SAH Croon Stamps, too?
"Butcher Bill" Stewart's actions seem to add truth to the
statement. When confronted with the charce, he refused to
answer and it is rumored that he is now hiding out in an
irrigation ditch somewhere in the Stanfield or Westland area.
THE BEST BOX BOYS
Box Boy Tom Brown was seen carrying a package of
chewing gum to a lady's car. When questioned about this
Tom said. "I am being paid to do this."
Box Boy Billy Bowden was observed holding a car door
open for many lady customers.
Box Boy Billv Benefit was observed unloading the gro
ceries from a customer's shopping cart

The Stewart Gang I accused of having the friendliest
clerk In any store In Umatilla County. Checker Marge KaU
ton say that "I really enjoy people. It Is such a pleasure
to serve such nice eople."
Checker Mildred Bushong. the southern talkln' "you all"
checker says, 'The customer are so happy with the service
and the low price that It's lust like nouthorn hospitality."
Meat cutter Jim Marshall says, "How could anyone not
want to smile. The customer are such fine people. '
Betty Hroun. sale girl In the shoe dept. say she smile
because "I like my Job and am so happy to work for such
fine customers."
1'at Davidson says, "1 have worked In many stores and
Umatilla County people are the nicest."
