Two Companies Buy
District Timber
Umatilla National Forest Su
pervisor Wright T. Mallery an
nounced today that two timber
sales were sold on the Dale
Ranger District last week.
Georgia Pacific Corporation
was the successful bidder for
the Bruin Creek sale. An esti
mated 10,600,000 board feet of
timber was sold. The timber
was appraised by the Forest
Service at $29,280.00 and sold
for $29,460.00. Final prices bid
on species per thousand board
feet were $22.30 for ponderosa
pine, $2.00 for Douglas-fir, $4.10
for western larch and $1.00 for
white fir and other coniferous
species. There were four bidders
present.
The Battle Creek sale was
sold to Harris Pine Mills with
an estimated volume of 17,100,
000 board feet of timber In the
sale. The timber was appraised
bv the Forest Service at $192..
300.00 and sold for $192,580.00.
Both sales are located In the
Desolation Creek area approxi
mately 15 miles from Dale.
