New officers of the Heppner
Mothers Club were Installed
Monday evening, when the group
met for Its last regular meet
ing until the fall months. Mrs.
Loren Lucore entertained the
club at her home, with Mrs. Rod
Murray as co-hostess.
With Mrs. Everett Struck
meler. past president, as instal
ling officer, the following new
officers were obligated: Mrs.
Herman Winter, president; Mrs.
Jack Krelger, vice-president, and
Mrs. I.ueore, secretary-treasurer.
Mrs. Bob Jones and Mrs. Elmer
Schmidt will serve as program
co-chairmen.
Discussion was held on plans
for the Hawaiian luau. to be
held Krldav evening. May 6, at
the home of Mrs. Anita Stock-,-ird,
with husbands as guests.
Summer protects were discuss
ed, and chairmen appointed for
the Sidewalk Bazaar sale, coun
ty fair booth and rodeo parade
float. A special planning meet
ing was set for August 8.
Hefreshments were enjoyed
during the social hour at the
close of the meeting.
To Honor Townsends
25th wedding anniversary.
The event will be held at the
Willows Grange Hall on Sun
day, May 15, between the hours
of two and five In the after
noon. Hostesses will be their two
daughters, Mrs. George Porschy
and Sue Townsend of Portland,
assisted by Mrs. Lewis Halvor
sen and Mrs. Harvey Smith of
lone. They request that no gifts
be given.
Former Residents
United in Marriage
An April 21 ceremony united
In marriage two former Mor
row county residents, Leila B.
Perry, now of Walla Walla, and
Ralph W. Bennett, recently of
Princville. The couple exchang
ed vows before Chaplain Law
rence E. Cousins in the chapel
at the Veterans' hospital in
Walla Walla, where the bride
was employed for many years.
The couple's attendants were
Miss A. Louise Larson and Mrs.
Oma J. Cox. Mrs. Cox, niece of
the new Mrs. Bennett, moved to
Walla Walla last year to be
near her aunt.
Mr. and Mrs. Bennett are life
long acquaintances, ha v i n g
grown up together in Lonerock,
and have many mutual ac
quaintances in and around
Lonerock, Condon and Heppner
communities. They will make
their home In Walla Walla.
