Slated April 28
Student body elections will be
held April 2S at Heppner High,
announces Tim Tullis, president.
Petitions for the offices, which
must be signed by 25 students,
were due April 13. Tentative
plans were that the student
council would then divide can
didates as equally as possible
to lorm two parties.
Primary elections would then
be held, with students choosing
which party to support and vot
ing for the candidaes who would
appear on the party ticket This
election is scheduled for next
Monday.
Winning candidates may then
select a campaign manager if
they wish, and conduct their
campaigns. Speeches by candi- i
dates from both parties will be
given at a student body meet
ing on April 27. At this time

Visiting with Mrs. Mattie
Green last Wednesday were her
grandson and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Green and dau
ghter. Shelley. Mr. Green has
taken a position with a com
pany in Santa Monica. Calif.,
and the family is moving there.
The family remained overnight
with Mrs. Green before return
ing Thursday.
Mrs. Terry Blevins and two
daughters of Ukiah were in
Heppner. last Tuesday visiting
her parents, - Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Gonty, and looking after their
. house here. They traveled to
Superior, Montana. to visit
Blevins' parents over the Eas
ter week-end, leaving the care
of their station in Ukiah in the
hands of Blevins' brother. .

munization : clinics for Morrow
counts' schools is now under
way, according to Mrs, Lowell
Challv. R. N.. Morrow county
health department.
The clinic was conducted at
Riverside High in Boardman to
day (Thursday) and at A. C.
Houghton school, Irrigon.
On Thursday, April 21, it will
he at Heppner Grade school at
9 a.m. and at Heppner High
school following. Seventh-day
Adventist children and after
noon session of the kindergart
en are to come to the Heppner
grade school at 9 a m.
On Thursday. April 2$, the
cltnic will be at the lone Grade
school starting at 9 o'clock and
at the lone High school follow
ing. 4 Heppner High

Forty students gained high
grades to qualify for the third
nine weeks' honor roll at Hepp
ner High school.
Those making a perfect 4.00
wore Karen French and Mark
Brown, seniors; Martha Peck,
iunior, and Sara Miller, fresh
man. There were 15 seniors, 11
juniors, seven sophomores and
seven freshmen on the list
which named eight bovs and 32
girls.
Seniors Qualifying with a 3.64
were Maureen Dohertv and Mar
garet Green. Those with a 3.50
were Mike Bunch. Trisha Farley,
Mark Murray and Cheri 1 y n
Smouse. Gayle Batty, Shirley Er
win, Barbara Gribhle. Joan
Healy, Joan Stockard. Erna Win
chester and Sheridan Wyman
all attained a 3.33.
Also on the list tor the junior
class with a 3.33 was Maralee

Area Educational Districts the
question of establishing a tax
levy for the fiscal year, 1966
67 for the sum of $335,832.00 as
permitted by Section II, Article
XI of the Constitution of the
State of Oregon, which said per
iod commences on July 1, 1966
and ends on June 30, 1967, and
said levy shall be placed upon
the 1966-67 Assessment Roll and
said taxes will be due and pay
able on November 15. 1966, Feb
ruary 15, 1967, May 15, 1967 and
August 15, 1967.
! The reasons for establishing
this tax levy are for the pay
ment of teachers and adminis-
j trator's salaries, supplies, and
equipment for the classrooms,
operation costs of the schooi
plant and amounts required for
the payment of teachers retire
ment obligations all as required
by the Laws of the State of
Oregon.
j The votes shall be by ball't,
upon which shall be marked
'Tax Levy" ( ) and the word
"Yes" and 'Tax Levy" and the
word "No" and the voter shall
place a cross (with an X in it
between the word 'Tax Levy"
and the word "Yes" or between
the word, 'Tax Levy" and the
word "No" which ever indicates
his choice.
AT THIS ELECTION WE WILL
ALSO VOTE TO ELECT TWO
DIRECTORS FOR A 4 YEAR
TERM.
