where they spent the holidays

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wheeler are
home again after spending
Christmas with her relatives in
Garibaldi. .
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferrel of
Camp 5 spent Christmas in Port
land, then visited here for a
week with her relatives.
Mrs. Jessie Scott and Mrs. Et
ta Ferrel took Mrs. Gracie Mat
teson to the John Day hospital
last Tuesday morning, where
she stayed until Thursday af
ternoon. She spent Thursday
night at the home of her bro
ther. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Hunt,
and continued home on Friday.
Miss Linda Stubblefield cele
brated her 11th birthday Decem
ber 28 when she invited several
friends to her home for a pa
jama party. She Is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Norris Stubble-
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferrel of
Camp 5, Gene Hunt and Verne
Mnttosnn drove to Jonn Ua.v
last Thursday to visit Verne's
wife who is in tne nospuai.
A letter - from Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Merrill of Eugene re
ported the recent death of Mrs.
Merrill's sister, Mrs. Greeta
Hughes. Services were held in
Portland last Friday and inter
ment was at Baker beside her
husband, David Hughes, who
preceded her in death in 1949.
Mrs. Hughes was 69 years of
age on December 16. Mr; and
Mrs. Merrill lived in Monument
for many years and were in
charge of the post office.
