law for exclusive area for elec
tilcal service. He said that this
Is a 'cleanup" of area-c presently
served by Columbia Basin but
which were not certified as ex
elusive territories at the time of
the power exchange with fa
ciflc Tower and Light Company
All territories Involved in the
hearing are rural areas. Young
said. In Morrow county, all the
rural area In the southern part
ot the county Is Included with
the exception of a small strip
between Lexington and lone. In
Wheeler county, the application
seeks exclusive certification on
an area roughly Including seven
miles to the southwest of Fos
sil, north to the county line, and
running to the John Day river
on the west. In Gilliam county,
the application Includes all rur
al area In the county beginning
from a point about eight miles
south of the Columbia River.
Pacific Power presently serves
Arlington and the strip lying
south from the Columbia. It al
so serve a nortion of northern
5 ! Morrow county, including the
Boeing Industrial site.
Peter Sukalac of the PUC said
the application seeks to "elim
inate Islands" In the exclusive
territory service which Colum
bia Basin now serves in the
three counties.
