Adds New Books
For Public Use
The lone Public Library board
announces the purchase of two
new adult books. "The Cross
and the Switchblade," by the
Rev. David wiiKerson, is a irue
story of juvenile delinquency in
New York City, and his personal
crusade against the gangs in
the city. It is a hard hitting real
istic portrayal of this devoted
man's years of living and work
ing among the hardened teen
agers of this area.
Bill Sand's autobiography,
-My Shadow Ran Fast," tells
the story of his life as a young
criminal, who was eventually
sentenced to San Quentin, where
his cellmate was the notorious
Caryl Chessman. From these
depths, he sought to rebuild his
life. In so doing, he has become
a helper, confidant, and coun
selor to ex -convicts and juvenile
delinquents. This is one of the
most talked about books of re
cent years.
Children in the lone area
should enjoy the new children's
books. The list is headed by
"Mary Poppins" and "Mary
Poppins on a Holiday."
Other new books for the
younger set include "Heide."
'Little Red Riding Hood," Walt
Disney's "Lassie," "Tammy at
Squaw Valley," a Trixie Beldon
mystery story, and various
other Little Golden Books.
The Library books are avail
able to anyone in the area and
no charge is made for obtaining
a library card from the librarian
on any Monday or Thursday
from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Current magazines also are
available for checking out
