the bell it wait cast In Hill
horn, Ohio. In IV and is a real
colh-tor'a item. In addition t
the Inside clapir, the tell has
a tolling clapper on the outsldt.
The bell itself weighed h

The rhurch which was recently
purt-haxed by the lone Unite J
Church of ChrUt to be remodel
en for a church education build
ing, wan started about 1901 and
completed In 1903, according to
old timers In town. Before a
baptistry was built In the
church, people wishing baptism
wire taken to nearby Willow
("reck for Immersion. During
th remodeling of the bulldin.;
the steeple or bell tower will
also be removed.
Before the church was ready
f r occupancy, worship services
were held at the home of Mrs.
Mary E. Hale. Early ministers,
who served the church, were
Rev. R. R. Grabeel and Rev. R. B.
Brown.
The members of the Unite!
Church of ChrUt plan to offer
the bell for sate at the annual
lx- f barbecue and auction,
which will be held at the
Cr&nge Hall in lone on June
12 with bidding, beginning at

at 12:30 p.m. A silent auction
and snack bar are also planned
for the amusement of all mem
ben of the family. Many bar
gains will be offered at the auc
tion as well as other antiques.

end. Their daughter Donna, was
examined by an eye specialist,
while In the city.
Mrs. Keith Kea returned on
Sunday from a brief stay In
Iloneer Memorial hospital In
lleppner.
Wayne Ball brought his wife
and new baby daughter home
from the hospital In lleppner on
Sunday. The baby, who weighed
6 lbs., 12 oz., has been named
Itobln Marie and was born on
June 2. Her grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Pettyjohn and
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bali She
also has one great grandparent,
Mrs. Fred Pettyjohn of lone.
Mrs. Ball and baby spent a few
days at the home of her par
ents before coming home to
lone.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C Crawford
and Mrs. Milton Morgan spent
Friday In Pasco visiting at the
home of Mrs. Russell Cox. Mrs.
Morgan brought home some of
her son. Gary's college things.
Gary returned home over the
week end and left for a busi
ness appointment in Portland
on Tuesday.
A special meeting of members
of the lone United Church of
ChrUt was held following rhurch
services on Sunday morning.
The building committee present
ed the final plans for converting
the old Baptist church building
Into a christian education class
room building. The plana were
unanimously approved by the
group. A coffee hour was also
held to help defray the expenses
of the church school being held
this week. Mrs. Milton Mgan
and Mrs. Jam Barnett were In
charge of arrangements.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bare
and family moved this week to
Condon. Mr. and Mr. Gordon
Meyers and daughter moved In
to the Llndstrom home formerly
occupied by the Bares.
Mrs. Mary Swanson came
home from Polneer Memorial
hoKpital on Sunday after spend
ing several days there being
treated for a severe attack of
flu.
Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Rletmann this week end were
Mr. and Mrs. John Turner and
their house guest of two weeks.
Mrs. Esper Hansen of Portland.
Mra. Hansen remained for a
longer vlalt with relatives here.
