major surgery. She is getting

and Mrs. Kenneth Smouse on
Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Harrington of King City, Calif.,
and Mrs. H. V. Smouse of Port
land. The June birthdays of Mrs.
Kenneth Smouse and Mr. Harr
ington were observed with a
barbecue picnic in the yard. Mrs.
Smouse is staying at her home
In Heppner for about a week and
visiting friends in the area and
plans to attend the auction and
barbecue in lone Saturday.

dent body at St. Paul's School
for Girls in Walla Walla for the
coming school year. Pam came
home on Monday for summer
vacation. -

home of Mrs. Charles Carlson
on Friday afternoon. Members
are to bring a book for the li
brary book shower.
Van Hubbard was released
from a Portland hospital on
Thursday after major surgery on
his back. He will remain in Port
land with Mrs. Hubbard and
take physio-therapy treatments.
Mrs. Marion Palmer was hos
tess for an afternoon party on
Monday honoring Mrs. Lewis
Halvorsen on her birthday. Ten
ladies, including Mrs. Halvor
sen's twin sister, Mrs. Archie
Munkers of Lexington, were
present.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith
spent several days the last of
the week at Bend,, where they
attended a trap meet.
Mrs. Ethel Adams of Lake Os
wego left on Friday for her
home after spending a week
here visiting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Franklin Lindstrom.
Other guests of the Lindstroms
over the Memorial Day holiday
were Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Ritchie
of Seattle.
Little League players are hope
ful that people will save the
coupons on the outside of the
Blue Bell potato chip package
and turn it in to Lindsay Kin
caid or bring it to one of the
ball games. The boys will re
ceive a nickel for every coupon
but must have 100 before they
can receive anything.

Following the usual business
meeting, a fhort program was
enjoyed in a Joint meeting of

dressed as cowgirls, Mrs. George
Steagall, Mrs. Johnnie Edwards,
Mrs. Joe Yocom and Mrs. Charlie
Padberg. Refreshments were
