the Risley family, who lost all
their belonging in a fire Fri
day. It wis also voted to aist with
the auction sale to be put on
in the community to raise funds
for the grange hall In the new

Following the meeting a

Charles Anderegg which she
brought back from her trip to
Europe last summer.
Christmas Program Enjoyed
The annual Mystery Sister)'
Christmas party was held at the
Community church Wednesday
afternoon, with members of the
Ladies Aid Society as hostesses.
The Home Economics club of
Greenfield Grance members
were guests. Mystery Sisters
were revealed with exchange of
gifts, and new names drawn for
next year.
Mrs. Russell Miller was in
charge of the following program:
group singing. "Silent Night;"
trio. "The beautiful Hills of
Judea" and "Oh Holy Night" by
Franell Walker, Annie Ober
meier and Carolyn Burg; orgin
solo, "A Birthday of a King."
Carolyn Burg; reading. Christ
mas story from the Bible. Mrs.
Delia Faulkner: gToup singing
of Christmas carols; reading,
"My Room In The Inn," Mrs.
Herman Burg.

Mrs. H. M. Walker was hos
tess for the Home Extension unit
at her home Tuesday with Mrs.
Bernard Donovan as co-hostess.
The subject was "Scandinavian
Cookery," and the noon meal
served was along that line. The
business meeting was held at
10:30 a m.
Mrs. Arthur Allen reported on
the Boardman Housing- Clinic
that a steering committee has
met and outlined plans for meet
ings to provide housing Infor
mation of Interest to those
Boardman residents who will be
moving because of the John Day
Dam. A series of three meetings
in March was planned: 1.
"Should you move your house?"
2. "Financial and legal aspects
of housing." 3. "Planning or re
modeling kitchens, bathrooms
and utility rooms."
The Silver Tea for the Esther
Klrmis Memorial Fund will be
helG at the home of Mrs. Glen
Carpenter January 14 from 10:30
a.m. to 4 p.m.
In the afternoon a Christmas
party was held with exchange
of gifts.
Tom Gardiner Is a patient in
Good Shepherd hospital in Her
miston, where he will have surg
ery December 22.
Mrs Darold LaChance has
been in Coos Bay the past week
visiting at the home of her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Dowdy.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ander
egg of Pendleton were overnight
guests Friday at the home of
Anderegg's brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wy3S.
Boardman had about four
inches of new snow Saturday,
making a total on the ground of
six inches. Snow fell all night
Friday and most of Saturday
morning. Maximum temperature
Saturday was 23 above, which
was the warmest since Tues
day. Minimum was 14 above,
about 26 degrees warmer than
the lowest during the week,
when it was 12 below Wednes
day morning. The sun was shin
ing part of the afternoon Sat
urday. Beverly Donovan of Portland
was a week-end visitor at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bernard Donovan. She
teaches school In Portland, and
her school was closed due to the
weather.
