Thanks-giving' is Something You Do!

(Ed. Ne: This juest editorial by member ot the
Ministerial Association Is presented In the wtm "

For several centuries Americans have celebrated f"n
Intended as special observance for the expression of our frail

In all history, I doubt whether any ration hat been o

There has developed In our culture, however, a creeping am

Intshtng In Inverse ratio to that which we possess. U t too easily
have forgotten from Whom this all has come! You and I have
nothing apart from the directive or permissive will ot Cod. And
especially during this Thanksgiving season, may our gratitude
rrystallze Into something we do!
Giving Thanks Is something more than a murmur of the
lips or a vague feeling of satisfaction for the things that we
have but a purposeful direction of the heart: body. mind, and
soul: the Intellect, volition, and emotions, offering praise to the
Lord for His goodness. Thanksgiving is something we do!
For Instance: The moments of "grace- prior to the sumptuous
dinner. (Every meal Is a miniature Thanksgiving when pre

home and family, and tender relationships. If life Is any other
than this, it Is not God's fault His transforming power can

Divine Providence In countless ways words fall me to properly
enumerate further blessings. ......
All of this calls for a response In rededlcation of our ery
souls to Him who has made our nation great, because Thanks
giving Is really something we do! .
Charles Stork. American educator and writer has accordingly
expressed his gratitude:
God. You have been too good to me,
You don't know what you've done.
A clod's too small to drink In all
The treasure of the sun.
The pitcher fills the lifted cup
And still the blessings pour
They overbrim the shallow rim
With cool refreshing store.
You are too prodigal with Joy,
Too careless of Its worth,
To let the stream with crystal gleam
Fall wasted on the earth.
Let many thirsty lips draw near
And quaff the greater part!
There still will be too much for me
To hold in one glad heart
Have a Joyful and grateful Thanksgiving!
