Grade Student Guests at Library
The Topic Club, who sponsor
the lone Public Library, ha been
holding open house for students
oi the elementary grades this
week. Members of the club visit
ed the grade school room Mon
day morning and reviewed some
of. the new books and Invited the
children to use the library fre
quently. Visiting the library for
tne first time as students were

Joe Rietmann. Lori Borgstrom,
Skye Krebs. Bill Tews. Clay West

library', which has over 5000 vol
umes and subscribes to eieht per
lodicals, is open on Monday and
Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30. Mrs
Fonald Bishop is librarian and
Mrs. Walter G. Robert Is her
assistant.
Kenneth Lundell of Oakland
arrived on Thursday for a visit
with his mother, Airs. Oscar Lun
dell, He had just returned from
a trip to Rome, New York, where
he had installed some electronic
eouipment for his company.
While East he visited the World s
Fair in New York City - for two
days. On Monday Mrs- Lundell
accompanied Kenneth to Seattle,
where they went to visit her sL
ter. Monday and Tuesday were
work days at the United Church
of Christ Many members and
friends of the church turned out
to do much needed repair work,
painting, and cleaning. Sunday,
October 4, will be observed as
World-Wide Communion Sunday
and a dedication of church school
teachers and workers for the
coming year will be held.- Also
that eveniner the annual budget
meeting for the United Church of
Christ will be held at 7:30 p. m.
at the church. - '

Gary Brenner, son of Mr- and
Mrs. C. E. Brenner, enrolled in
the University of Oregon this
week to work toward his Masters

Mr. and Mrs. David Baker
spent Friday and Saturday in
Portland, where they visited
their daughter, Susan, who is go
inp to school in Beaverton. They
were accompanied by Mrs. Ray
Boyce, who visited with her
father, Van Hubbard. He is re
covering satisfactorily from re
cent surgery, but will be at the
hotel for a while before coming
home.

week, to be with Mrs. Troedson 's
uncle, George Brewster who

Season on Chukar
To Open Saturday
Oregon scatter-gunners are re
minded that the general season
for chukar and Hungarian part
ridge in eastern Oregon will oen
one-naif hour before sunrise Oc
tober 3. A long gunning season
lies ahead for upland bird shoot
ers, with Huns and chukars on
the agenda until January 7, l!Mo.
Bag limit is 8 birds per day in
the aggregate, 16 in oosse.vsion.
Hunters are reminded that the
head and head plummage must
icmain attached to all upland
game birds while in the field or
forest or in transit.

1 is scheduled to open at 8 a. m..

Former lone Resident
Injured at Board man
W. G. Seehafer is recovering
in the Umatilla hospital from
injuries received September 23
at Boardman while moving
cattle to a new pasture. His horse
fell on him as it was running
to turn the cattle. Injuries in
cluded a slight concussion, bro
ken shoulder blade, bruises and
lacerations over his body, and
ten stitches required on his fore
head.
He Is showing Improvement at
the hospital, but It will be sev
era! months before complete re
covery. His daughter, Mrs,
Eulenna Corley. visited him
over the week-end.
