the show this year.
For the first time the champion
performance horse will receive a
revolving trophy, being donated
bv Jerry Daggett, Shell Oil dis
tributor here.
The trophy will be vn by the
horse receiving the most points
in the performance division in
lots 5. 6. 8. 9 and 1L To gain
permanent possession a horse
must win the trophy three years
in a row. Points used wjll be fig
ured on five points fv Ht place,
four points for second, three
points for third and two points
for fourth. In case of a tie, both
names will be place on the
trophy and each horse will have
possession for six mor'hs.
Mankln has expressed great
pleasure with the cooperation
piven by Heppner businessmen.

Mr. and Mrs. Huston Lesley and
Mrs. Sarah Smith of Pendleton
went to Bend Monday to attend
funeral services for their brother-in-law,
Archie Jones of Prine
ville. Mr. Jones passed away Fri
day in a Portland hospital fol
lowing surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Chapel,
Cassie, Mrs. Joel Engelman and
Frankie went to Portland re
cently to visit Archie Saling at
the Veteran's hospital and to at
tend the Morrow county picnic.
Mr. Saling was transferred from
the Walla Walla Veteran's hos
pital for surgery.
Dallas Ward and sons, Philip
and Mark of Boulder, Colo., are
staying out on Camas Prairie
this week with Ralph Jackson.
They visited relatives in Hard
man on Monday.
Mrs. Blanche McDaniel, Ricky
Ginger and Dixie returned home
from Ashland where they had
been for the past ten days.
Alta Stevens is at Monument
visiting her sister, Mrs. Stanley
Musgraves and family for a
while.
Bonnie Kessell is in Bend for
a couple of weeks staying at the
home of her grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Ogle.
Mr. and Mrs. Ike Shank of Mt.
Vernon were week-end guests at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hus
ton Lesley.
Mrs. Ivan McDaniel and boys,
and Mrs. Oren Medlock and boys
spent a day in Hardman last
week at their home here.
Mrs. Bill Ogle of Bend, Mrs.
Linda Aiken and Tina of San
Diego, Calif., visited at the Eslie
Walker home Wednesday and
Thursday. , ,
Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Chapel
and Cassie left Wednesday for a
vacation at crater L,ar.e mu
Klamath Falls. They expect to
be gone about ten days. They
also plan to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Fraters at Grass Valley.
Visiting at the home of Mr. and
Mrs A. L. Osmin are their daugh
ter Mrs. Don Wonderly, her four-weck-old
son, Bryan Jeffrey and
five-year-old son, Robert. The Os
mlns have been getting acquain
ted with their new grandson dur
ing the past two weeks. The
Wonderly family will return to
their home in Salem this week
end when Mr. Wonderly comes
for them.

sion. The official judge this year
will be Ron Davis of Olex.
Halters and bridles in the
prize list have been made by
Gray's Saddlery.
Much work and effort on the
part of many persons go into this
show. Last year there were some
223 entries, and it is expected to
reach far above that figure this
year.
