Officers Installed
For Willows HEC
At Dinner Meeting
The Lee Palmer home was the
scene of a Christmas party for
members of Willows Grange
Home Ec club, with Mrs. Marion
Palmer as co-hostess.
Following a turkey dinner and
a short business meeting, the
following officers were installed
by Mrs. Vida Heliker: Mrs. Berl
Akers, chairman; Mrs. Lewis
Halvorsen, vice chairman; Mrs.
Art Dalzell, secretary, and Mrs.
Lee Palmer, treasurer.
Secret Pals were revealed
through the exchange of gifts.
The club voted to continue the
secret pal custom for the com
ing year.
Members voted to finish the
basement in light mahogany,
hoping to get the work finished
early in the year. The commit
tee met with the Grange exec
utive committee Thursday to
measure the basement and esti
mate the amount of materials
needed.
Next meeting will be an all
day meeting on Thursday, Jan
uary 16, at the home of Mrs.
James Lindsay, with Mrs. Mabel
Cotter assisting.
Willows Grange will meet Sun
day, January 19, with a potluck
dinner at noon. The Sunday
meetings were announced to con
tinue through March. With the
beginning of the new year, new
officers desire the support of
members through attendance and
cooperation in maintaining an
active organization.
Co-op Auxiliary
To Meet Monday
January meeting of the Lex
ington Co-op Biddies is planned
for Monday, January 6, at 1:30
p.m. at the Lexington City hall.
Members and friends are asked
to bring articles or ideas received
for Christmas which would be
of interest to the other women
attending. Projects will also be
discussed and started for the
club exhibits at the annual
spring district meeting.
Hostesses for the social hour
will be Mrs. Kenneth Palmer and
Mrs. Florence McMillan.

Mrs. Clara Gertson, in her ca
pacity as State Director of the
Degree of Honor Protective Assoc
iation, is serving as installing
officer at installation ceremonies
of Fern Lodge No. 25, The Dalles,
tonight (Thursday). Mrs. Gert
son will be away from her home
here a good part of the month,
making visitations to member
lodge groups over the state.
She spent the first part of
Christmas week at the home of
her son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Goheen in
Portland, and on Christmas day
was with another son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. An
horn and family at Central Point.

At Church Ceremony

hart, Jr., were united in marriage
at an informal, double ring cer
emony Saturday afternoon, De
cember 28, in the First Methodist
church, Heppner. Vows were read
by the Rev. Melvin Dixon.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Hendrickson,
Tulelake, Calif.
She chose for her wedding a
white sheath dress of silk shan
tung with white accessories, and
wore a white orchid corsage.
Parents of the groom are Mr.
and Mrs. Forrest Rinehart, Sr.,
of Pendleton.
Attending as matron of honor
was Mrs. Joe Yocom, a sister of
the bride. She wore a blue suit,
accented with a pink carnation
corsage.
Serving as best man was Joe
Yocom, Lexington.
The young couple left immed
iately following the ceremony for
a short wedding trip through
Eastern Oregon, after which they
will make their home in Ukiah,
where the groom has a cattle
ranch.
Miss Stanley is a graduate with
the class of 1963 at Tulelake,
Calif., and has made her home
in Lexington with her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Yocom and family. She has been
employed for the past few
months at the Heppner Clinic.
Attending the services were
the bride's mother and father,
Mr. and Mrs. Hendrickson and
daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Rinehart,
Sr., parents of the groom, Pendle
ton, and their three sons and
daughters; Mr. and Mrs. Yocom
and family, and Mr. and Mrs.
Elvin Stanley and children of
Portland.

A June 27 wedding is planned.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adkins ar
rived home Saturday after spend
ing Christmas with their son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Crismon and family in
Milwaukie. They continued cn
their trip from there to Tacoma
where they visited at the home
of Mrs. Adkin's brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tay
lor Canoy.

LEXINGTON The Lexington
IOOF hall was the scene on Fri
day, December 27, of a lovely
bridal shower honoring Miss
Charlene Jones of Portland. Miss
Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
C. C. Jones, Lexington, is the
bride-elect of Glenn Eatch of
that city.
Guests were seated at card
tables covered with bridal cloths
and matching napkins, centered
with Christmas greens tied wish
orange and brown ribbon. A
large sheet cake decorated in
the honoree's wedding colors of
brown and orange, with a cluster
of white sugar bells held in one
corner with ribbon, was prepared
by Mrs. Bob Cool, aunt of Miss
Jones. Serving the cake was Mrs.
Clell Rea of lone.
Punch was served by Mrs.
Vern Viall, and coffee by Mrs.
Vic Groshens.
Winning door prizes were Mrs.
Leonard Munkers and Mrs. Greg
Leyva.
Hostesses for the occasion were
Mrs. Bob Davidson, Mrs. Johnnie
Ledbetter and Mrs. Vic Groshens.

Joint Installation
Set For January 1 1
A joint installation will seat
new officers of Sans Souci Re
bekah and Odd Fellow lodges
on Saturday evening, January 11.
Activities of the evening will
begin with a dinner served at
6:30 p.m. for all lodge members
and their families.
Further plans will be discussed
at the regular Rebekah meeting
Fridav evening, January 3, with
all members urged to attend.
Boise Girl Engaged
To Renne Harris
The Right Rev. and Mrs. Nor
man Foote of Boise, Idaho, have
announced the betrothal of their
daughter, Margaret Elizabeth, to
Renne L. Harris, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Mike Saling of Heppner.
The bride-elect graduated with
the class of 1963 from Willamette
University in Salem. Her fiance
graduated in 1959 from Heppner
high school and also is a Wil
lamette University graduate. Cur
rently he is doing post-graduate
work at DePauw University in
Green Castle, Ind.
No wedding date has been set.
Sheriff and Mrs. C. J. D. Bau-
man and Carl spent Christmas
in Monument with his sister, Mrs.
Helen Brown at the home of Mrs.
Brown's daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vawter.
Friends Honor Bride
With Recipe Shower
IONE A lovely bridal shower
was given for Miss Karen Lun
dell on Saturday, December 21
at the home of Mrs. Louis Carl
son. Other hostesses were Mrs.
Don Peterson. Mrs. Paul Tews,
and Mrs. William Rawlins. Each
guest brought, her favorite rec
ipes on file cards, which were
placed in a book and presented
to Karen. With the recipe was
a gift of one utensil required in
making the dish.
A game was played in which
each guest pantomimed making
the recipe she brought, while
the others tried to guess what
she was making. Mrs. Herbert
Peterson won high prize and Mrs.
Carl Bergstrom, low prize.
The gift table was decorated
with a large ring centered with
dolls representing Karen and her
fiance, Francis Stack, seated in
a swing. Refreshments were
served at individual tables cov
ered with red cloths centered
with a doll couple on a white
base around which were written
in glitter, "Karen and Francis,
December 28, 1963."

Stanley Cox Home
Has Many Visitors
The Stanley Cox home has
been brimming with well-wishing
friends and relatives during
the holidays. Among the visitors
were Mrs. Cox's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lee Flemming, Kinzua, who
departed for home Christmas
day.
Thursday saw the arrival of
Pfe. Victor Wiese and Sp 4 Lor
an Wiese, nephews of Mrs. Cox,
who are on leave from the army.
Their home town is Dayton,
Wn. Accompanying them were
their fiancees, Miss Carol Ma
son and Miss Neva Fawcett, both
of Dayton.
Arriving Saturday from Milton
Freewater to spend several days
were Mrs. Cox' sister and brother-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mellor
and familv.
The Cox family plans to leave
for Portland Saturday, where
Mrs. Cox will enter the Univer
sity of Oregon Medical School
hospital on Monday and under
go heart surgery this month.
Spending Christmas at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Scott were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin
Boyd of Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Liebe and
family, Pilot Rock, and Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Fossum of Kennewick,
Wn., were holiday guests of the
Wayne Harsin family.

Gresham Newlyweds
Visit in Heppner
Overnight visitors at the home
of Mrs. Mattie Green Friday were
newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Lester
Lundblad of Gresham.
Mrs. Lundblad is the former
Mrs. Mildred Green, daughter of
Mrs. Green. The Lundblads were
married at the Gresham Meth
odist church on Thursday, De
cember 26. They were attended
by her brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Green of
Tacoma, Wn.
Mr. Lundblad is employed with
an accounting firm in Portland.
They will make their home in
Gresham, where Mrs. Lundblad
is principal in the Springdale
elementary school.

Parker Family Has
Reunion on Sunday
The Frank S. Parker home
was the scene of a happy fam
ily reunion Sunday when their
four children were home together
for the first time in over five
years.
Spending the day with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parker,
were Mrs. Frances Mitcheil and
John Parker of Portland, Vawter
Parker of Hood River and Mrs.
Fred Hoskins, Jr., of Heppner.
Another guest for the day was
their grandson, Vawter Parker,
Jr., of Hood River, who was home
for Christmas vacation from
Stanford University where he is
enrolled as a freshman.
