Union Sponsors Party

KINZUA The annual Christ
mas party of the Union Aux
iliary was held Friday evening
at the kitchen with Mrs. Louisa
Fleming and Mrs. Thelma Hill
as hostesses to the group. The
ladies played traveling games
and Mrs. Marian Tripp retain
ed the traveling prize. They also
exchanged Christmas gifts.
There was no business meet
ing but the ladies will make
popcorn balls for the Union spon
sored Christmas party for the
youngsters of the community
which will be held Friday, De
cember 20.
And may we join your many friends in
wishing you a New Year filled with
happiness, satisfaction and achievement.

Miss Laurie Fisher celebrated
her fourteenth birthday Satur
day with a party for six of her
girl friends. Each girl brought
Laurie a record and after hot
dogs and ice cream, the time
was spent listening to the new
rceords. Those helping Laurie
were Alana Guinn, Merrill Huck,
Linda Bird, Sally Schroeder, Rita
Sitton, and Verla Conner.
E. L. LaMarche of Portland,
representative from Homelite
products, was a Tuesday over
night guest of Mr. and Mrs;.
Frank DeMeritt.
Mr. and Mrs. Slim Rhoton were
in Condon Saturday for medical
attention for Mr Rhoton and to
do some shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Catlin
went to The Dalles last Thurs
day where Mr. Catlin entered
The Dalles hospital for several
days treatment. He hoped to be
released the first part of this
week.
The PTA card party at the
Kinzua Grade school Saturday
night was well attended with
both pinochle and bridge being
played. Clarence Moore won high
for bridge with Robert Park get
ting low. In pinochle competit
ion, Bud Bird won high, Milt
Boring low, and Lee Bailey and
Bob Slinkard the traveling prizes.
Pie and coffee were served
throughout the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Morti
more and family were in Con
don Saturday for business and
shopping.
Mrs. Perle Anderson and Mrs.
Frank Ferrel were in Heppnei
Monday on business. On Thurs
day Mrs. Ferrel went to Portland
for a medical checkup and to
visit the Burton Nelson famiiy.
She returned home Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kyle and
family went to Madras Satur
day to visit the Boyd Browns
and to do some shopping.
Safety Film Viewed
The Safety Banquet for all
employees of Eastern Oregon
Logging Co. was held Friday
evening at the Camp 5 Commun
ity hall. The turkey dinner was
cooked and served by the Camp
5 Women's club. A film and
talk on Safety was given by Stan
Day of Pendleton and Cecil Van
Sclioiack of John Day.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Greiner and
family of Condon were recent
visitors of Mr. and Mrs. C. L.
Flack.
Hollomons Observe Anniversary
An early Christmas dinner
combined with a 25th wedding
anniversary was held Sunday for
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hollomon
when their sons and families
spent Sunday and Monday nere.
Those here for Sunday were Mr.
and Mrs. Bruce Hollomon and
daughters of Hermiston and Mr.
and Mrs. Jerry Hollomon and
daughter of Heppner remained
until Monday.
Wayland Hyatt went to Port
land Saturday to get Mrs. Hyatt
who had spent the past week
having medical care. He was ac
companied by Jim Worlein who
had visited here for several days.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cody re
turned home Friday from Fal
lon, Nev., where they had gone
to attend the funeral services
of Mrs. Hap Pickens. Mr. and
Mrs. Pickens had formerly lived
here and Mr. Pickens was em
ployed as a truck driver for East
ern Oregon Logging Co.
Mr. and Mrs. John Meadows
and family went to Portland to
spend the week-end shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lorengel
and family were in The Dalles
Sunday to visit friends and to
have medical care.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Williams
were business visitors to Prine
ville Saturday.
Mrs. Howard Rice and Mrs.
Dick Ziteck were in Bend Friday
to have Linda Rice visit the
eye doctor.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jellick and
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Asher were bus
iness visitors to Portland Satur
day. Mrs. Allen Nistad and child
ren and Mrs. Milt Boring were
business visitors to The Dalles
Monday.

ship club were entertained Wed
nesday evening by Mrs. Naomi
Rice at Jeffmore Hall. Pinochle
was played and high and one
floating were won by Vi Slink
ard, low by Rosie Graham and
the second floating prize by Rita
