"We're down to our last daffodill" this flower grower announced
in a long distance call to his pleased wife. "Sold the whole
kaboodle to the seed company for a good price 1" Long distance
is a fine way to share triumphs with friends and loved ones.
For business or pleasure calls, it's still the next best to being
there. How about sharing some joy tonight, after six,
when rates are even lower? PACIFIC NORTHWEST BELL

4-H Builders Meet
At our last meeting we selec
ted a name for our 4-H club.
It will be the "Boardman Build
ers." We answered roll call by
naming a tool that we have
used before. Our motto is "we
learn by doing." We studied
about kinds of measurements
and kinds of woods. We learned
to drive a nail straight into a
board, using 8-penny nails.

Holiday Season
Rhea Creek Topic
"Twelve Days of Christmas"
was the title of the program at
the meeting of the Rhea Creek
home extension unit at the
grange hall November 6.
Ann Bergstrom and Muriel
Palmer, leaders, helped members
use five management steps to
solve pressing problems of the
holiday season. Included were
making the most available fam
ily skills, time, money, energy
and know-how. They pointed out
that these stamps are identical
to those used by business exec
utives in making high level de
cisions. An orderly procedure takes
worry and frustration out of the
homemaking job, they said. The
leaders showed several demon
strations of getting things ready
for Christmas the easy way.
Nineteen members were present.
TSgt and Mrs. Calvin Cox
and their children James, Mich
ael, Joy, and Melody were in
Heppner over Veterans Day
week-end as guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Dick Borman. TSgt. Cox is
the son of Ben Cox of Heppner.
The family returned Monday to
their home at McChord Air Base,
Tacoma, Wn., where TSgt. Cox
is presently stationed.
