THE 39TH ANNUAL Harney County Fair, Rodeo and Race Meet
to be held in Burns September 5 through 8, Has as reigning
royalty these three lovely young ladies. Left to right are Princess
Nancv Carson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Carson of Lawen;
Queen Stephanie Sinkey, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Donald
Sinkev of Burns; and Princess Dee Ann Jenkins, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jenkins of Princeton. Harney county's biggest
annual event boasts a three-day top notch rodeo, two days (Friday
and Saturday) of pari-mutuel racing, two big parades, carnival.
dances and new this year, "one Fantastic mgnt, teaturing
outstanding acts of magic and mystery, a two-hour show sched
uled for September 6. at 8 p.m. The 1963 Queen court invites
everybody to Harney counters annual rear and Hoaeo.

Attention of Wranglers is
called to the fact that sleeve
patches are available. Those in
terested may contact Mrs. Jim
(Sue) Valentine. Fred Mankin
also asks that anyone who has
boots for flag staffs turn them
into him. They are needed fo
the parade.
An error on announcers for the
horse show was made in last
week's Gazette-Times. The an
nouncers will be Harold Irwin,
Al Fetsch and Gene Pierce.
Pierce's name last week was in
correctly reported as "Gene
Fetsch."

Three Bound Over
For Grand Jury
Two men, Paskel Mason and
Lavell Eastridge, pi e a d e d
guilty to charges of burglary
not in a dwelling in Morrow
county circuit court Thursday
with Judge William Wells pre
siding. They were indicted the
same day by the county grand
jury. Trial will be in October.
The third man held on the
same charge, Andy Mack, did
not appear for he is committed
to the state hospital after a re
cent attempt to commit sui
cide. Three men charged with burg
lary not in a dwelling in con
nection with the entry into the
watermelon stand of Mrs. Mary
A. Nelson, Boardman, during the
night of August 2 were bound
over to the grand jury following
preliminary hearing in justice
court of Oliver Creswick Monday.
The three are Paskel Junior
Mason, 39, Andy Mack, 45, both
of Firebaugh, Calif.; and Glen
Lavell Eastridge, 34, Compton,
Calif. They were represented at
the hearing by John Kottkamp,
Pendleton attorney, and Herman
Winter, district attorney, repre
sented the state.
After their arrest bv state po
lice shortly after the robbery of
the stand, the three were brougnt.
to Heppner, then were taken to
the Umatilla county jail where
they have been held in lieu of
bail. Mack allegedly attempted
to commit suicide in the iail
there by using a razor blade to
cut his throat.
The Morrow county grand jury
was to convene today (Thursday)
to hear the case.
The Rev. Dr. C. C. Griffin and
family were week-end guests at
the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs.
Don Turner and family. Dr. Grif
fin is pastor of the First Presby
terian church in Pasadena, Calif.
Mrs. Griffin is a cousin of Mrs.
Turner, both originally from
Mansfield, Ohio.
