Notice is hereby given that
an election will be held in
School District No. R-l of Mor
row County, State of Oregon,
from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on
April 22, 1963, at Cafeteria,
Heppner; Cafeteria, Lex., Cafe
teria, Irrigon; Riverside H. S.,
Boardman; Pine City School;
lone H. S., lone, and Rhea Cr.
Grange in said school district for
the purpose of submitting to the
legal voters of said district the
question of increasing the tax
levy for the fiscal year 1963
1964 over the amount limited by
section 11, article XI, of the Con
stitution of Oregon.
The reasons for increasing
such levy are:
Increasing costs of education,
added teachers, added cost for
operating new facilities.
The amount of tax, in excess
of the 6 limitation, proposed
to be levied for said fiscal year
is $554,410.

On March 13, 1963, the Public
Utility Commissioner accepted for
filing an Application of Eastern
Oregon Telephone Company for
an order of the Commissioner al
locating exclusively served tele
phone utility service areas, made
pursuant to the provisions of
ORS Chapter 757. The service
areas are specifically designated
by description on Exhibit "A,"
which is a map of the areas in
volved, and Exhibits "B" and "C,"
which are legal descriptions of
the areas involved. Exhibits "A, '
"B" and "C" are attached to and
by reference made a part of
the Petition which is on file in
the office of the Public Utility
Commissioner.
The areas involved are desig
nated as "Serving Area No. 1"
and "Serving Area No. 2." Serv
ing Area No. 1 is located gener
ally in the extreme northeast
corner of Gilliam County, and
the northern portion of Morrow
County along the Columbia
River, west of the town of Irri
gon and the Umatilla Ordnance
Depot and northerly of the points
known as Cecil and Buttercreek
Junction. Serving Area No. 2 is
located in Umatilla County con
sisting of the southern portion
of said county northerly to the
south line of Township 2 N and
easterly to the east line of Range
34 E, excluding Township 1 IN,
R 29 E, W. M., a portion of the
Township 6 S, R 31 E, W. M.,
and four sections near the Mc
