SPRING IS bound to be just
around the corner and then
comes the thought of new spring
clothes. The colors this year
seem to be in the pastel shades,
in prints, stripes, and solids. The
manufactureds have developed a
new treatment given to the solid
color materials to make them
more resistant to prevent stains
from soaking Into the material.
According to one report from the
buyers markets the dresses will
come out with many shirtwaist
styles. Many will be looking for
the "just right" dress for the
Elks annual which is coming up
February 16.
ooo
FREEZES AROUND the country
have caused all fresh green
items to take a jump in prices.
Because of the short supply of
fresh produce, the homemaker
will have to rely on canned and
frozen vegetables this spring to
get the most for the money. AIlo
use more onions and root vege
tables. Potatoes are ideal to use,
and must not be left out of the
diet' just because they are "fat'
tening." They are a powerhouse
of energy and we need the valu
able contribution they make to
our health and well being. If
you are considering buying a
beef carcass to package for the
freezer, the U. S. Department has
a quick guide: figure one-fourth
of the carcass will yield steaks;
another fourth, roasts; and a
fourth of ground beef and stew;
the final fourth is waste, bones
and fat.
