The Morrow county OEA met
in Irrigon November 26 for their
mommy business meeting and
umner. ine Dusiness meeting,
conducted by President Don Olm-
sL-neiu, was neia in tne new
muiti-purpose room, and the din
ner, sponsored by the Irrigon
PTA, was served in the school
cafeteria. Open house was held
so the teachers of Morrow coun
ty could see the new addition to
the grade school. Approximately
ou reacners attended the meet
ing. Menus for A. C. Houghton
Elementary for the week of De
cember 3 and 7 are as follows:
Monday macaroni and cheese,
lunch meat slices, green beans
and pudding; Tuesday meat
loaf, grapefruit, buttered corn
and doughnuts; Wednesday
iikmi cnicken, masned potatoes,
gravy and green salad; Thurs
day vegetable-bean soup, toast
ed cheese sandwiches, plums and
cake; Friday salmon loaf, spin
ach, molded vegetable salad and
pudding.
A 4-H sewing club was organ
ized November 27, with Mrs. John
Swearingen as leader, and Susan
McCoy as junior leader. The ten
members attending the first
meeting were: Terri Senn, Kay
lluson, Vicky Hobbs, Geralding
Swearingen, Joyce Jackson, Terie
Eppenbagh, Cheryl Mead, Judy
Franke, Betty Ritzer and Eddie
McCorkle. Officers elected were:
Terri Senn, president; Kay Hu
son, vice-president; Vicky Hobbs,
secretary; Geraldine Swearingen,
news reporter; and Joyce Jack
son, recreation leader. During
the meeting, the leaders taught
the group to equip a sewing
box. Later on, the group will
learn the various parts of a sew
ing machine and their respective
uses. Following the meeting,
games were played. The next
meeting will be December 11 at
3:15 at the school house.
Mrs. Viola Whitt and Christy
have moved to Umatilla, and
are staying with Mrs. Whitt's
sister.
Riverside high school will par
ticipate in the basketball jam
boree held in Umatilla December
7, and A. C. Houghton Elemen
tary will participate in the
basketball jamboree held at Ar
lington December 8.
A2c Daryl F. Hobbs, recently
home on a 30-day leave, left
Wednesday for McGuire Air
Force base in New Jersey, and
flew from there to Madrid, Spain
where he will be stationed for
the next three years in the Air
Force.
Chester Wilson brought home
a spike elk over the week-end.
He hunted in the Ukiah area
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gustafson,
Steve and Leann spent the week
end in Portland visiting relatives.
Mrs. Eldon Enright and child
ren were guests of the C. A.
Wilsons over the week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Koch and
Denise spent Sunday through
Friday with Mrs. Kochs folks.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hill. Mr. and
Mrs. Roscoe Cook and Rhonda
arrived at the Hills' Friday even
ing and left for their home in
Portland the following Sunday.
Mrs. Sedelia Dexter is visiting
her son and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Burt Dexter, in Tacoma, Wn.
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Hardin, who
have been visiting the D. C.
Graybeals, left Wednesday for
their home in Hailey, Idaho.
EOCE students who were home
for the Thanksgiving holidays
were Misses Ann Schmeder and
Sandra Creamer, freshmen, and
Sandi Davis, sophomore.
Mr. and Mrs. James Forney of
Arlington are parents of a baby
daughter, born in Good Shepherd
hospital Tuesday, November 27.
The baby has been named Kelly
Lee, and weighed 9 lb. 3 oz.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Sanders and Mrs. Forney
of St. Helens, who will be stay
ing with the James Forneys for
two weeks, helping to care for
the new baby.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Berg and
Ronald, who have been visiting
Mrs. Myrtle Markham and the
Albert Partlows, left Saturday
morning for their home in West
minster, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wilson
have moved into one of the Part
low duplexes.
Mr. and Mrs. Kees Morgan are
home, after spending some time
with their daughter and son-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. John Ankei,
Douglas and Ross, in Spokane.
Mrs. Morgan went to Spokane
on the bus, and was joined there
a week later by Mr. Morgan.
They returned home Monday.
Miss Juhel Hovingholt, who
has been stationed in the Ha
waiian Islands the past two
years, . has received her dis
charge, and is now making her
nome with her ioiks, Mr. and
Mrs. Lee LeBlanc. Her brother,
Royal Hovinghoff of Tacoma,
spent the week-end here visiting
his sister and the LeBlancs.

Party Honors Mrs. Mittelsdorf
Mrs. Dave Mittelsdorf was
honored with a pink and blue
shower Friday night at the home
of Mrs. Harold Baker. Co-hostess

Delmer Hug, Mrs. Arthur Allen,
Mrs. Dewey West, Mrs. Gunnar
Skoubo, Mrs. Ronald Black, Mrs.

low, Mrs. Claud Coats and Mrs.
Frank Marlow.
Schultzes Honored at Farewell
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Partlow were
hosts for a potluck dinner at
their home Sunday for members
of the Good Shepherd Lutheran
church in honor of Mr. and Mrs.
H. C. Schultze, who are moving
from Hermiston to make their
home in Portland. Rev. Schultze
has been pastor of the church
here for the past fifteen years.
They were presented with a
money tree as a gift.
There were 45 present, out of
town guests included Rev. and
Mrs. A. T. Lewis and three child
ren of Pendleton, Mr. and Mrs.
Sigvald Aase and three child
ren of Touchet, Wn., and Mr.
and Mrs. Ivan Kress and son
Brian of Hermiston.
Club Makes Donations
Mrs. Ralph Skoubo was hos
tess for the meeting of the Board
man Tillicum club at her home
last week. The club made a do
nation to the Salk Institute
building at San Diego, Calif., and
made their annual donation to
the Sadie Orr Dunbar nursing
fund.
It was voted to participate in
a Round Robin letter from junior
clubs in the state. Mrs. LaVern
Partlow was appointed to write
the letter from here.
Mrs. Don Downey was appoint
ed club woman magazine chair
man for the year.
A bulletin was read from Mrs.
Wallace Smith, state junior club
director, on all club activities for
the coming year.
Those who still want to give
gifts to the state hospital in
Pendleton for Christmas are to
have them at the home of Mrs.
Ronald Black by December 7.
The Carnation Sister Christ
mas party will be held at the
home of Mrs. H. M. Walker the
evening of December 11, starting
with dinner at 7 (o'clock.
Mrs. Joe' Tatone, 7th district
president of the Oregon Feder
ation of Women's clubs, went to
Portland Monday where she at
tended a luncheon and meeting
at the lone Plaza on Tuesday.
The speaker was Mary Rather-
ine Barnes, UFWi; cnairman ot
law observance and crime pre
vention, who discussed the nat
ional street lighting contest, and
a new program recently endorsed
by the FBI.
Mrs. Tatone was a guest last
week of The Dalles Woman's
club in The Dalles, where she
spoke briefly.
Mr. and Mrs, a rarm rayior ot
Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, were
week-end visitors at the home
of their niece, Mrs. LaVerne Part
low. Ann Philps, Portland, former
teacher of Boardman grade
school, was a week end visitor
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Dante Daltoso.
Mr. and Mrs. George Wiese and
daughters Sandra and Roxann
moved to Portland last week to
make their home. They have
purchased an apartment house
there.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Rucker of
Portland were overnight visitors
at the home of Mrs. Rucker's
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Gantenbein, last
Friday on their way home from
Las Vegas, Nev. Rucker won the
trip as a bowling prize.
Mrs. George Sicard was taken
back to St. Anthony's hospital
Sunday evening. She had just re
turned from there last week after
a two and a half week stay
during which time she had ma
jor surgery.
Mr, and Mrs. Earl Briggs re
turned home lost week from a
week's trip to Merced, Calif.,
where they visited at the home
of Brigg's brother and sisier-in-
law, Mr, and Mrs, Milton Brlees.
They also visited In Sacramento,
at tne home ot Mrs. Brings'
cousin, Mr. and Mrs, L. C. Stilson.
An overnight visitor at the Briggs
home on their return was Robert
Kress of Milwaukie.
The temperature dropped to 17
above here last Thursday morn
ing, which is the coldest so far
this fall. The trees were covered
with frozen fog all day, with the
maximum 37 above.
W. G. Seehafer is recuperatinc
from surgery at the home of his
daughter, Airs. Walter Corley, in
Corvallis after being a patient
at the Good Samaritan hospital
there.
Jay Bunch left Saturday to re
turn to the Treasure Island Na
val Base at San Francisco, Calif,
after visiting the past three
weeks at the home of his brother-in-law
and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Prevost.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Briggs and
Mrs. W. G. Seehafer went to lone
Sunday to attend the Fall Fes
tival at the grange hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Al Flock and
daughters Lorraine and Renee
of PeEU, Wn. are visiting at the
home of Mrs. Ervin Flock.

The main item of business was
to elect officers. Shirley Hicks
was elected president; Elaine
Gaarsland, vice president; Karen
Hams, secretary; and Arleta
McCabe, news reporter.
The club members discussed
projects to do during the year.
Going on a buying trip, washing
sweaters, and making a color
wheel were just a few ideas
mentioned.
Our next meeting will be an
afternoon meeting at Arleta Mc-
Cabes on December 8. We will
clean and adjust our machines
at the meeting.
