At Lawn Dinner
Mr. and Mrs. Randall Martin
were hosts to a buffet dinner
Friday evening on the lawn of
their ranch home. Many out-of-town
relatives and friends
here for the wedding later in
the evening of Miss Judy Co
chell and Dick Paine were
among the invited guests.
Enjoying the informal dinner
were Dick Paine, on leave from
his service training at Fort
Campbell, Kentucky; his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Paine,
Aloha; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Andrews, Los Angeles, Calif.;
Jon Ryder, Glide; Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Ritter, Mrs. Dick Chin
nock, Mrs. Del DesBrisay, Port
land; Mrs. W. D. Andrews, Bill
and Tom, Vancouver, Wn.; Mr.
and Mrs. David Paine, Morgan
town, West Va.; Mr. and Mrs.
Phil Strader, Bill Strader, Rose
burg; Miss Susan Coffern, Bryn
Athyn, Pa; Ladd Dick, Pat
Martin and the host and hostess.
The Randalls also entertained
relatives staying for the week
end at a barbecue on the lawn
Saturday evening, leaving for
their respective homes on Sunday.

In Pendleton After

Wedding vows were exchang
ed between Brenda Kay Town
send, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Hershal Townsend of lone, and
George Portschy, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Portschy of Pendle
ton, in an evening ceremony
June 16 at the lone Community
church. The Rev. Rod MacKen
zie read the double ring cere
mony. Decorating the church were
large baskets of white gladiolus
and lavender chrysanthemums,
with white pew bows centered
with a lavender orchid.
Wedding music was played by
Miss Karen Lundell who also ac
companied Mrs. Gerald Jonasson

ner at Stefani's on Thursday
evening, prior to the wedding
Friday evening of their son,
Richard Edwin, to Mis Judy

roaming about. I concentrate
better or maybe it keeps me
from talking to myself.

Marter journeyed to Hermis
ton Monday to enter the Elks
duplicate play. They continued
the Heppner winning habit by
bringing home first prize.

BARBARA ALLSTOTT, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde All
stott, celebrated her 8th birth
day with a party Thursday
afternoon. Her guests were
Tracie and Tina Connor, Sally
and Sandra Kirby, Edna and
Louise Hartle, Povie Alderman,
Melinda Leonnia, Janot Mc
Curdy, Cyde Marie and David
Allstott. They enjoyed games
and refreshments of birthday
cake and "keen cones." Barbara
picked out the "keen cones"
recipe and helped mother,
Jackie, prepare the treats. They
were ice cream in cones decor
ated with cookies and chocolate
chips, making dolls, then placed
into the freezer until party time.
MILLIE EVANS took high for
the Friday afternoon pinochle
club with Gladys Beckett as
hostess, Pearl Wright and Beulah
Mankin took the pinochle and
Gladys won low. Also in on the
two tables of play were Mary
Harris, Marguerite Chapin, Doris
Watkins, and Carrie Beckett.
BIRTHDAYS WERE in season at
the Allstott home last week!
Jackie was surprised with a
party Friday afternoon by Flo
Connor at the Connor home. The
guests enjoyed an afternoon of
Confusion, which is a card game.
Beth Van Schoiack won high
and Delorea McLachlan was low.
Others present for the "Confus
ion, cake and coffee were
Jeanne Berry, Bobby Angell, and
Mrs. Hoyrt liutohins.

family are vacationing this week

They left The Dalles following

day night and plan to return

week-end with relatives.

The bride's gown was of white
silk organza with fitted bodice,
pointed neckline and floor
length bouffant skirt. Her finger
tip veil fell from a jeweled
crown and she carried a white
orchid surrounded by stephan
otis. She carried an embroidered
handkerchief, a gift of her
grandmother, Mrs. William
Campbell of Stanfield.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Pat
Hammond, wearing an orchid
sheath with matching hat and
accessories.
Bridesmaids, choosing laven
der sheaths with matching hats
and accessories, were Sue Town
send, sister of the bride, Linda
Halvorsen and Sandra Zachary.
All carried fans with vandum
orchids.
Candle lighters were Carol
Ann Palmer and Judy Morgan,
dressed in purple with orchid
wrist corsages.
Dawn Peterson, in white and
lavender sheer with lavender
cummerbund, attended as flower
girl. She carried a basket of or
chids. Ricky Peterson carried the
rings.
Gary Richards of Pendleton
was best man. Ushers were Man
cell Townsend, brother of the
bride, and Don Baumeister and
Jim Baker of Pendleton.
A reception followed in the
church parlors with Linda Heim
bigner pouring; cake was cut
and served bv Carol Kay Ander
son and Carol Sue Hynd, cousin
of the bride, and Marilyn Mor
gan served punch. The table was
centered with a three tiered
wedding cake surrounded with
vandum orchids and topped by
miniature bride and groom.
Mrs. Milton Morgan was chair
man for the reception, with Mrs.
Mike Matthews, Mrs. Clell Kea,
Mrs. Harold Sherer, Kathy Rea
and Mrs. Paul Petty.iohn, Jr.,
assisting about the rooms,
Following a wedding trip to
the coast, the couple is now
at home in Pendleton, where the
groom is employed at the U.S.
Gypsum plant at Pilot Rock and
the bride is a beautician at tne
Bob Shop in Pendleton.
For going away, the new
Mrs. Portschy wore a lavender
Chinese sheath with matching
coat and gold-colored access
ories. She wore the orchid from
the bridal bouquet. After the
reception the main bouquet was
thrown and caught by Linda
Halvorsen.
Coming from out-of-town were
