Over The
Tee Cup
By DEE CRIBBLE
Play was a riotous affair Sun
day with five couples getting
to the tee-off at the same time.
So, we decided to play a 10
ball fivesome. (Rules were made
to be broken, I've heard said).
Want to know how long it took?
Just three hours, and three more
players. VanMarter, Sr., joined
up at the third hole, and at I
number seven here came the
Creswicks. Playing were the
McQuarries, Pratts, Gribb 1 e s,
aev uunaerson. judge carmich-
ael, Jack Loyd and Harlan Mc-
Curdy.
What would you golfers sav
to an organized "twilight tour
ney" on a week day in place of
bunday atternoonf Just asking.
credit Marie Mc. with three
"chip-ins" (with Clint as her
partner) and taking low score
bunday.
Corkie, Hester, Velma Glass.
Hazel, Marie, LaFyrne, Helen
Bebe, Kay R., Donna and I play
ed l uesday, with Hester and
veima in cnarge. Balls were
given for most strokes on num
ber 6 hole, using wood shots
only. It was "be kind to La
Fyrne" day as she won that
ball (with 11) and then tied
Corkie with least shots on num
ber 4 with four. (Corkie won the
flip.)
You'll never see two more de
termined golfers than Helen
Schaffitz and Cork Norene took
them six strokes each to get
across the swamp on number
and only lost one ball be
tween them, but the golf shoes
will never be the same again,
ana tne water is coooold.
Plans are under way for
couples to just go and play at
McNary on Sunday. (Not offic
ially invited, but know well
be welcome.) So if you are In
terested in the plans, call Marie
McQuarrie or me.
Hear that Hillard and Lucille
Brown actually get out at 4
clock in the morning and Plav.
Hillard says the day is lust
beautiful at that time. Wish
Lucille would sleep in and play
with us gals.
NONSENSE
"Golf, golf," snarled the little
woman. "I really believe Id
drop dead if you spent one Sun
day at home." Hubby sighed,
"Now, now, it's no use talking
like that. You know you can t
bribe me.
Jack Loyd says Gribble is
"a sulking, uncommunicative
opponent on a golf course. He
talks to me on every green, but
he always says the same thing:
You re away."
