Vector Control
Election Changed
Because of an error made in
the description of the proposed
district in legal notice furnished
for publication earlier this year,
election date on the formation
of the Boardman vector control
district has been changed, Mrs.
Sadie Parrish, county clerk,
states.
The election originally was set
for Friday, June 8. Because of
the error, however, it has been
necessary to republish notice of
public hearing on the proposed
district. Date of the hearing is
set for July 5 at 10 a. m. in
the county judge's office in the
courthouse.
Election will be held on July
18 from 2 to 7 p. m. at the city
hall, Boardman, she said.
Legal notice on the hearing
is on page five of this section.
Leaders To Get
Help On Fair
"You'll find that the 4-H teach
ing device of demonstrations
helps your members in this grow
ing up process," writes Esther
Kirmis, Morrow county extension
agent, in a letter that went out
to all Morrow county 4-H leaders
this week. "They learn to talk
easily while they use their hands
to show a useful practice." The
letter informed them of a dem
onstration "help" day on June 20
at the Heppner Fair Annex build
ing from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m.
An Information booklet on 4-H
demonstrations and a list of sug
gestions for each project was
enclosed in this mailing to give
the leaders the "know how" in
choosing, outlinine, and puttin
together a demonstration for the
fairs this fall.
Ribbons and special awards
are given to demonstrators to
encourage them in this activity.
The Morrow County Fair Pre
mium book will outline these.
Also the best demonstrations
(single and team) in home eco
nomics and agriculture in junior
and senior divisions will be sent
to the Oregon State Fair In
Salem, September 1 to 7, advises
Miss Kirmis.
"Our goal Is at least one dem
onstration per club at the fair,'
says agents Joe Hay and Esther
Kirmis. "We hope that each club
will help us realize this."
