THE ANNUAL Episcopal Easter
Monday rard party drew a
crowd of 12 tables in play of
pinochle and bridge. Gordon
hutehins won high in bridge
and Lucille Wilson was second.
Janina Johnson won high in
pinochle with Adelle Wright sec
ond high. Hazel Hamlin won the
door prize, Co-chairmen for the
event were Laurel Van Marter
and Maxlne Gray. Assisting
them were Shirley Blake, Bonnie
Barratt, Karen Thompson and
Janabelle Turner. They served
luscious angel food cake with
almond rocha topping. The hall
was decorated in the Easter
theme with Easter eggs and
flowers.

kers entertained with two
tables of pinochle with Lenna
Smith winning high. Lillian
Sweek won low, Sarah Sharrard
and Maxine Gray won the trav
eling pinochle, Maxine had the
pinochle three times during the
evening and finally won it on
the third time! Also playing were
Ruby Munkers, Ruth Van Winkle,
Marj Gardner, and Bebe.

ening time. Bedding plants
and vegetables are available.
I'll have to pass up the oppor
tunity again this year as we
have more sheep than fences
around here and I'm afraid the
two do not mix too well.
WHAT'S TRUMP bridge club
were entertained Wednesday
afternoon with a luncheon and
two tables in play at the home
of Lota Tibbies. Madge Thom
son was co-hostess for the after
noon, Gladys Connor won high,
Gena Leonard, second, and
Happy Graham, low. Others
playing were Margaret Blake,
Virginia Wilkinson, Beth Bry
ant, and Virginia Rosewall.

LAURA SUMNER was guest of
honor with a dinner on her
17th birthday Friday night at
the Jim Lovgrpn home. Her par
ents, Cal and Jerry Sumner, were
hosts for the evening. Also at
tending were the Jim Lovgrens,
Ernie Garrisons, Ann Jones, and
Sheryl Crist.

the Friday afternoon pinochle
club when Mary Harris enter
tained the group, Gladys teamed
up with Carrie Beckett to win
the pinochle and Margaret Du
buque won low. Also playing
were Hazel Hamlin, Beulah Man
kin, Doris Watkins, and Pearl
Devine.

of their daughter, Brenda Kay
Townsend, to George Portschy,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Port
schy of Pendleton.
Brenda Kay is a graduate of
lone high school with the class
of 1960. She will complete her
study this spring at Phagen's
College of Beauty, Pendleton,
and graduate with her class in
June,
Mr. Portschy graduated from
Pendleton High school in 1958,
and is now employed in Pendle
ton. The date of June 16 has been
chosen for the wedding.

sugar beet which are identical
in chemical composition. It may

powdered, and brown sugar as

RICE CASSEROLE
2 7 oz. cans chicken
2 cans chicken rice soup
1 can chicken gumbo soup
1 cup uncooked rice
4 cup butter (melted)
Mix together in casserole dish
and bake lk hours in 325 degree
oven. Optional: add oaekaee
slivered almonds, sprinkle re
maining on top before last 20
minutes of baking time.

Wrong Parents Given
Cathy Schiller, fifth grader in
the Heppner elementary school
who with her partner, Sue Green
up, won a silver medal last week
at the Science Fair in Pendle
ton, was credited to the wrong
parents in last week's Gazette
Times. Cathy is daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Schiller of Echo.
It was erroneously reported last
week that she is daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Schiller.
Cathy and Sue had a science
project on wool.
