    Sans Souci Delegates
Named To Rebekah
Mrs. C. J. D. Bauman and Mrs.
M. N. Kirk, Hermiston, were ap
pointed as delegates to the State
Rebekah Assembly in Medford
next month. Named as alternates
were Miss Esther Bergstrom and
Mrs. Jerry Rood. These were
selected at the meeting Friday,
Mrs. Kirk was recommended
from Sans Souci as District Dep
uty of the Rebekah Assembly.
Committees from the Triple
Links club announced the "Dime-a-dip
Dinner" to be. served to
the public this Friday, April 13
in the lodge hall. They will start
serving at b:w p. m. ana con
tinue until everyone is served.
Mrs. Frank Payne received a
letter from Mignonette, Lodge
No. 86, Rebekahs and Wildhorse
Lodge No. 70, Odd Fellows,
Athena, inviting Heppner Rebek
ahs and Odd Fellows to a spec
ial evening of entertainment
honoring James Whitney, 1962
United Nations Youth delegate
winner. This will be held in the
lodge rooms in Athena April 16
at 8:00 p. m.
Sans Souci members will host
the Odd Fellows with a supper
and entertainment at the month
ly recreation night, April 25, 6:30
p. m. at lodge hall.
Miss Bergstrom and Mrs. Floyd
Worden were in charge of refreshments.

Pioneer Memorial hospital is
one of many hospitals now en
rolled under the American Red
Cross Blood Bank program, which
relies upon donations through
the mobile units throughout the
state for its ever-needed supply.

drawing, set for Monday, April
26, at tne catholic Parish hall
between 1 and 5 p. m.
Contacts are now being made
by Mrs. Orville Cutsforth, county
chairman, and members of the
Pioneer Memorial hospital auxil
iary. Registrations are encour
aged by all physically capable
residents. A quota of 9U pints has
been set, and registration is aim
ed for at least 120 to 150 possible
donors. Careful requireme n t s
must be met, so it is usually
not possible for every registrant
to be a donor.
Some of the general require
ments include the weight of
donor to be at least 110 pounds,
must be between 18 and 59 years
of age,, has not given a donation
during the past eight weeks, is
not a diabetic, a patient of heart
disease, or has not had surgery
during the preceding six weeks.
Other medical problems may al
so be considered reasons for re
jection. Donor requirements are
necessary to protect the donor's
health and to provide a safe
bottle of blood for transfusion.
Womens Fellowship group of
the Lexington Christian church
will do canteen work and serve
refreshments to donors after the
drawing.
Mrs. Max Buschke and Mrs.
Carey Hastings were in Portland
on business Saturday and Sun
day. They visited Tom fcargeant
who is a patient at tne veter
ans' hospital.

REMEMBER THE "Salute to
Spring" opening and the ex
citement planned for the after
noon. Our youngsters are dream
ing gay costumes for the parade,
such enthusiasm! Then to con
clude the prefect day, the whole
family can have a night at the
Band Carnival. Mother has a
night off, no supper to prepare!

SOCIALLY WISE, the week was
rather light, not much doing,
but rather nice for a spell, huh?
With the end of the school year
nearing and summer plans pro
gressing, things will run rather
hectic tor the next two months.

LOTA TIBBLES and Beth Bryant
were co-hostesses Saturday af
ternoon for the OES Social club
at the dining room. They served
a dessert luncheon followed by
an afternoon of cards. Juanita
Carmichael won high in bridge
and Edna Turner won high in
pinochle.

HAZEL MAHONEY won high
Wednesday afternoon when
Madge Thomson and Lota Tib
bies entertained the What's
Trump Bridge club at the Thom
son home. They served a lunch
eon of ham and rice casserole,
fruit salad, rolls, sherbet and
cookies. Two tables were in play
with Margaret Blake, Virginia
Rosewall, Happy Graham, Helen
Schaffitz. Fav Ferguson, Lota
Tibbies, and Gena Leonard. Lota
was second! and Gena won low.

club were guests of Pearl
Wright with Millie Evans win
ning high, and Mary Harris, low.
Millie teamed up with Beulah
Mankin to win the pinochle and
Beulah had a 1,000 aces during
the afternoon play. Also play
ing were Doris Watkins, Gladys
Beckett, Carrie Becket, Marg
uerite Chapin, and Pearl.

JO SIMMONS was honored last
Thursday with a going-away
party with Sharon Cutsforth and
Judy Buschke as co-hostesses.
She was presented a money tree
and the guests played pinochle
and visited during the evening.
Guests were Donna Peterson,
Phyllis Quackenbush, Barbara
Devine, Marg Jones, Shirley Mar
latt, Linda Dunlap, Eunice Petty-
lohn. Dolores McLacnian, Jean
Marie Damon. Jo and her family
have moved to Calitorma. One
guest was unable to attend she
had a prior date with the stork!
Mary Lovgren spent all after
noon learning to play pinochle to
eo to the party, only to go to
the hospital instead!

DUPLICATE BRIDGE was in
Dlav Sundav evening at the
Bert Huff home. Making up the
play were the Jerry Jonassons,
Gordon Pratts. Gordon Hutchins,
Terry Thompsons, Bob Jones and
the Huffs. Terry and Jerry won
hieh north-south and Gordon
Hutchins and Bert won high east
west. Say, gals, what happened
to vour scores, this was men's
night!

bridge enthusiasts motored to
Hermiston Monday night to en
ter bridge play at the Elks. Jim
and Bobbe Driscoll won high
north-south and Bill and Daisy
Collins won third, north-south.
Others going were LaVerne and
Laurel Van Marter, Harriet Hall,
Doreen Jacobs, Suzainne Jcpsen,
and Eileen Padberg. Speaking of
enthusiasm, LaVerne and Laurel
just pulled in from a 3-day trip
to Portland in time to take off
for Hermiston!

ELKS LADIES Night entertained
15 tables of cards following a
roast turkey dinner. The ladies
also were invited in to view
the installation of Elks officers.
Speaking for myself, this was a
very impressive event, not soon
to be forgotten. Joanne Hughes
won high in pinochle and Laura
Richards was second high. Ella
fcmith won high in bridge and
Laurel Van Marter won second.
Sharon Cutsforth won the door
prize. Hostesses were Ruth Van
inkle, Shirley, Donna McCurdy,
Helen Keithley, and Louise Far
ley. They served homemade
cookies and coffee during the
evening.

Co-op Biddies Head
Mrs. Millard Nolan was elec
ted chairman of the Lexington
Co-op Biddies at the meeting
Monday afternoon. Other officers
for the coming year are Mrs.
Gene Ferguson, vice chairman;
Mrs. Joel Engleman, treasurer;
and Mrs. Lonnie McCabe, secre
tary. Fifteen members were present
to make the smocked aprons and
pillows of checked gingham ma
terial. Marble lewelrv will be
demonstrated at the next meet
