'Electricity Use
Up During 1961
Must local residents used more
electricity during 1!(1 than they
did a ear ni'o to help perform
household chores, llht their
houses and keep their families
comfortable, according to Pacific
Tower and Light Company.
"The households served by the
company usei an average of

use, hut many families use from
10,l00 to 20.1XX) kilowatt hours
a year in their 'electric living'
homes." according to PP&L's (lis

"Our customers are making
greater use of electric automatic
clothes washers and driers, elec
tric dishwashers and other elec
tric household appliances .that
make living easier and mure
comfortable for all members of
le family," he added.
In a review of 1901 highlights,

said total sales to all customers
exceeded seven billion kilowatt
hours for the first time.

system of the former California
Oregon Power Company, thus in
tegrating the hydroelectric
powerhouses of both systems.
Other lines started and due to
be finished In 19tJ2 include a
230,000-volt line between Med
ford and Roseburg.
