was scheduled at the Leonard

topping the scores for high and

THE ELKS pinochle tournament
got underway Wednesday
night with seven tables in play.
I he scores lor this evening will
be the start of the running scores
for the remaining weeks of play
which will determine the win
ners at the close of the session.
Taking high honors were Mil
dred iarnell and I'rudie Case-
beer, and Beulah Mankin and
her partner, Mary Harris, get
ting second high. Winners are
given prizes after each night's
play, too.

BRIDGE TOURNAMENT play at
the Elks got off to a good start
with 48 persons making up the
12 tables in the duplicate play
They too, receive prizes for high
on each Tuesday's play and the
scores are tallied and kept dur
ing the play to determine the
winners at the end of the tourn
ament. High for north-south
were Laurel Van Marter and
Eileen Padberg; second, Ed and
Rachel Dick: third, Rita Wolff
and Isabel Davis, Condon; and
fourth went to Jim and Bobbe
Driscoll. Hieh east-west went to
LaVerne Van Marter and Daisy
Collins; second, Elsie Cole and
June Bellenbrock; third, Nona
Sowell and Dee Gribble; and
fourth. Conlev and Vi Lanham.
Sounds as if the play here is
real interesting and they gained
three tables over last year. You

Dobbs won high and had the
high hand for the eveninc. Al
vina won the second place Drize.

night at the Bridgettes club
held at the home of Bebe Mun
kcrs. Picking up second place
prize was June Bellenbrock, and
low went to Mabel Heath. Win
ner of the traveling prize, hav
ing 100 honors, went to Gwen
Healy. And In on the play were
hay Kobinson, Jean Bennett, and
Lillian Sweek. Bebe served a
tasty molded cheese salad and
crackers.

entertained at a luncheon
bridge party with chicken cas
serole, molded salad, and a fruit
cocktail dessert followed by two
tables of bridge. Meg Murray
won high in the three progres
sions with a score of 7,000. She
made 4.150 in one progression,
and winning second was La
Fyrne Pratt with 5,400. Whew,
what scores!
