This project which the Garden
Club has undertaken can not
be done in the matter of a year.
However, spread over a period
of time it is hoped that our town
will be graced by these lovely
and useful trees. A great deal
of work, study and planning
have gone into these plans ana
the Garden Club members have
worked very laboriously to ob
tain information on the best plan
and the best type of tree adapted
for this area.
At the garden club meeting
on Tuesday, information was
presented to the members by
Mrs. Fredrick Martin on trees,
their types and1 adaptability for
this area. A vote was made to
obtain the group's choice in or
der of their preferences, with the
following choices, Moraine Lo
cust. Scarlet Oak, Washington
Thorn, Norway Maple, Schwed-
ler s Maple, Little Lear Linden.
These six types of trees are con
sidered to be the most highly
adaptd for our area. The club
is open to any suggestions or
information that anyone can
give them to help in this work.
It is planned, througn later
articles, to bring information
through our paper on the proper
planning, planting and care
methods to enable everyone In
surrounding communities, as
well as our own town, to have
healthier and bettei trees.
