tion where they will relocate.
Mr. and Mrs. Berl Akers and
oonme went to rortiand over
the week-end. They did some
shopping and attended the Holl
day on Ice on Sunday evening.
They also visited with his bro
ther and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Akers and with Mr. and
Mrs. Akers aunt, Mrs. George
Urlacker from Tacoma, Wash.,
who was visiting at the Kenneth
Akers home.
Mrs. Elbe Akers and Mrs. Don
ald Ball were hostesses for the
Bingo Club at the home of Mrs.
Akers on Wednesday. Fifteen
members and one guest were
present

and Mrs. Eldon Padberg of Lex
Ington who filled in for a mem
ber unable to attend. Prizes were
won by Mrs. Cannon. Mrs. Cor-
ley and Mrs. Padberg.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Craig of
Kennewick visited at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Yarnell
over the week-end. Mr. Craig
Is a furnace repair man and he
was -here doing some work In
the community.

is confined to the hospital, where
he has been since Friday. He
Is reportedly Improving and will
possibly return home sometime
this week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Salter
spent Friday night at the home
of their son and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Gaylord Salter In Milton-
Freewater.

visited in Arlington on Sunday
with the Carl Anderson family,
where they were dinner guests.
Mark and Brian Rletmann,
sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rlet
mann, were honored at a family
gathering on Saturday in honor
of their birthdays at the home
of their grandmother, Mrs. Vic
tor Rietmann. Other guests were
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rietmann and
family and Mrs. Walter Roberts.
Mrs. Jim Llndsey, Mrs. Helen
McCabe and Arleta McCabe were
Pendleton visitors on Saturday,
while their men folks went deer
hunting.

day, September 21 Hosts for the
party were their daughter, San
dra, their son and daughter-in

anks, and Mrs. C. E. Brenner,

Mr. and Mrs. Eubanks were
married In The Dalles September
24, 1931.
Approximately 90 guests at
tended the potluck affair. A
money tree was presented them
by the group. Their son and

Condon on Wednesday of last
week to attend a PTA work shop
at the county courthouse.

corsage.
The table was decorated with
a white carnation and orchid
chrysanthemum centerpiece.
Mrs. Howard Eubanks of Ar
lington, sister-in-law, made and
decorated the beautiful two-tiered
cake. The cake had a white
frosting with white rosebuds and
an orchid, with a white dove
adorning the top tier of the cake.
"Happy Anniversary" was writ
ten across the cake.

af hunting I By tha way, four
deer were bagged by the party
In between all their "work."

Local Budget Law

Orecon's "local budget law." Tha
appointments are the rvsult cf
a two day hearing by tha com
mlttee In Eugene early In Sep.
tember at which public official
from cities, counties, school and
special districts appeared before
the Interim committee urctne
complete revision of tha local
budget law. The law, which was
originally passed In 1921. wss
dex-rlbed as "archaic" and "bad
ly in need of revision" at the
hearing.
Representative Edward J.
Whelan, D. Portland, chairman
of the Interim committee, named
George Baldwin, comptroller for
the Portland public school sys
tem, chairman of the advisory
committee. Other members ap
pointed are from cities and coun
ty officials, school boards, and
other Interested branches of government
Announcement of the advisory
committee's first meeting will be
made shortly, according to
Whelan.
