Several catlemen have called
during the past week to aik for
recommendations for spraying
cattle for lice and grub control.
This reminds us that timely
reminder for this Important Job
Is due.
Those who have used the new
systematic treatments the Isst
couple of years have found that
they are very effective for
combined control of both grubs
and lice, getting protection from
these parasites during the entire
problem season. Checking the
four herds that we set up as
demonstrations last rail, we
found almost 100 control of
both grubs and lice for a six
months period. There are several
materials available for use this
fall The two that have been
popular, one used as a spray, the
other as a bolus given by mouth,
have now been Joined by another
one which can be poured on the
barks of animals. While we don t
have any experience with this
new one, we do know that the
boluses must be given according
to weight and the spray used In
a direct high pressure stream,
forcing It through the hair to the
skin if good results are obtained.
The twenty-five percent wettable
powder Is mixed at the rate of
16 pounds per hundred gallons
and applied at an average of
one gallon plus, per animal, de
pending on the sue. Boluses are
administered according to the
direction on the package. What
ever treatment you might choove.
