walt fashioned her bridal gown
of white Ince over bridal satin.
The princes style dress featured
a round neckline and long
sleeve fastened with tiny cov
ered button. The back was
fashioned with double pleat
which fell into a train. Her
fingertip veil was held In place
with a lace headpiece outlined
with seed pearls. She carried a
cascade bouquet of white steph
anotls and orchids, centered on
her white Bible.
The bride's something old and
borrowed was a white handker
chief which belonged to her
grandmother and a gold locket
belonging to her husband1
grandmother. Her something
new was her gown and shoes,
and something blue was her gar
ter. Serving as maid of honor was
the bride's sister Dlna. Junior
maid of honor was her sister,
Nancy. The bridesmaids were ner
sisters Lula and Elizabeth, and
her cousin Vivian Stirewalt. The
maids of honor carried bouquets
of two shades of lavender asters,
painted acorns, wheat and leaves
from Hawaii. The bridesmaids
carried bouquets of white and
lavender asters set Into half
birdcages decorated with laven
der net.

Donna Dixon and Mr. Shirley

Mr Kliin Nash, served punch,
coffee, and tea. The young
couple left Sunday evening for
their honeymoon In the Wallowa
mountains.

with the State Police.

for a treat which I enjoyed last
week at the Mike Sallng home.
Eilene had some biscuits fresh
from the oven when I was there
to pick up some cucumbers. My,
how good they are. First, you

way to making sour doughs, so

Lora Moyer can pick you a pretty
bouquet from a tree in her yard
which is blooming for the second
time this year. The terrific flood
and wind storm on August 16
through Blackhorse canyon
Where Mr. Moyer lives, stripped
the tree of all its leaves. Along
with the second growth of leave
came the second bloom of lilacs.

open house held by Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Pratt at their home fol

Heppner Unit Learns
About Extension
The Heppner extension unit
met S-pt. 12 at, the home of Mr.
Riley Munker with 13 members
present for the first meeting of
the extension year. The day
started at 11:00 a. m. with mem
ber assigned questions on ex
tension service, what It Is and
what it offers. After a noon pot
luck dinner, the meeting con
tinued with reports on the ques
tions given. Mrs. Merrltt Gray
reported the Heppner unit award
went to Judy Smith and Lynn
Burkenbine, the champion knit
ting team demonstrators at 1K1
county fair.
A short discussion on money
raising projects for the unit end
ed In favor of continuing the
Dutch auction at each meeting.
Mrs. Mike Gray won the auction.
The next meeting will be Oct.
10 at the fair pavilion starting
at 10:00 a. m. with a sack lunch
at noon. The subject will be
"Smocked Pillows" ana anyone
attending is reminded to bring
material and other needed Items.

For Special Dinner
Mrs. Lucy Peterson was hon
ored on the occasion of her birth
day, Sept. 11 by a dinner at the
Clarence Johnson home.
Present, besides the honoree,
were her daughters Ruth and
Martha Peterson, Mr. and Mrs.
Darrell Ployhar and daughter
Susie, the host and hostess, Mary
and Johnny.

To Host Convention
The Degree of Honor met Tues
day at the Christian Church on
the regular meeting night. Com
mittee were appointed to work
on the district convention which
Heppner will host here Oct 10.
The convention will begin
with registration In the fore
noon, a potluck dinner at noon
and meetings to take place dur
ing the afternoon In the Catholic
parish hall. A banquet for the
members and families is plan
ned for the evening in the Christ
Ian church.
The Carnation club met at the
home of Mrs. William Cunning
ham Thursday evening. The
members planned the banquet
menu for the Degree of Honor
Convention. Refreshments were
erved following the business
meeting.

Mrs. Robert Jones entertained
members of the Mother's club
Monday evening. Sept. 11. with
Mrs. Ray Williams acting as co
hostess. A demonstration on the mak
ing of ceramics was given by
Mrs. Gordon Hutchins, and a
group of colored slides of var
lous floats and booth entries at
fairs and rodeos were shown by
Mrs. Jones.
A short business meeting was
held and plans for the year were
discussed.
