On Uiotn wool, the rate of pay
mcnt U 47 6 percent of the dol
lar return the producer received
from the sale of shorn w-uol dur
ing the year, or $17.60 for every
$100 rerrlved. Tills Is the amount
necessary to bring average wool
prices up to the announced In
centive level of 62 cent per
pound under the National Wool
Act. On unshorn lamb, the rate
la 80 cent per hundredweight of
live animals sold.
Deduction of 1 cent per pound
from thorn wool payment and
5 cents per 100 pound of live
weight from lamb payment will
lx made for advertising, pro
motion, and related market de
velopment activities on wool and
lamb. Thl self help program,
authorized by the National Wool
Act. Is carried out by the Amer
ican Sheep Producer Council,
Inc., which was established for
that purpose. Deductions from
payments were approved by pro
ducers In a referendum held In
1959.
The Incentive level for shorn
wool for the current 1961 mark
eting year covering market
Ings from April 1, 1961, through
March 31, 1962 Is 62 cent per
pound, the same as for previous
yoars.
