In Horse-Cow Mishap
Ralph Beamer, Heppner ran
her. was taken to Pioneer Mem
orlal hospital last Thursday noon
with a compound fracture to the
lower rlnht lec. the result of a
collision of a steer and his horse
Beamer was hclolnir on the
cattle drive of the Floyd Jones
herd from the Jones' rancn on
Hinton creek to their ranch on
Rhea creek. When the herd was
about one half mile from the
end of the drive a cow headed
back. Beamer cut back to head
it Into line and somehow the
horse and cow collided. He fell
from his horse, though witnesses
said it was thought the leg was
broken In the collision.
The cattle were being rounded
ud for the drive to the Thome
creek area in the mountains for
summer pasture.
