Daughter of Pioneer
Family Dies at Age 81
Services were held Monday at
Creswlck Mortuary for Ollle M.
Nelll, 81. who died In La Grande,
March 16.
Mrs. Nelll was born In Athena
and was a long-time Heppner
resident, moving to La Grande
17 years ago following the death
of her husband, Ed.
She was the last member of
the family of one of the earliest
settlers in the county. Her par
ents, Jake and Mary Watten-
burger, came to Buttercreek from
Missouri over the old Oregon
Trail, settled there and farmed.
She was a member of the First
Christian church.
She Is survived by three
dauchters. all school teachers.
Neva Nelll lives in La Grande,
where she teaches at Eastern
Oregon College; Oleta Akers Is at
Mllton-Freewater, and Lena Her
mann is also at La Grande; six,
grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
Interment was in the Heppner I
Masonic cemetery.
Morrow Homemakers
To Tour Pendleton
It will be "Morrow County Day"
In Pendleton on March 28 when
county homemakers will tour the
Pendleton Woolen Mills, Igle
heart Brothers (Jello division of
General Foods), and the East
Oregon State Hospital, according
to Esther Klrmls.
Last year the eight members
of the county advisory committee
toured the state hospital. This
met with such Interest that this
year a tour was planned to in
clude all interested extension
women.
The women going may choose
the tour they wish to take.
Each county committee ts re
sponsible for the transportation
and eating plans of her unit. If
anyone Is interested In the above
tours they should contact any of
these women: Mrs. Warren Mc
Coy, Irrlgon; Mrs. Willard
French, Pine City; Mrs. Randall
Martin, Lena; Mrs. Paul Warren,
Heppner; Mrs. John Bergstrom,
