your blood type is In the event
someone else needs some blood
This knowledge saves the labor

donor of a particular type of
blood. When you need a trans
fusion your blood Is always typ
ed even If you have been typed
before. Thla Is a safety precau
tlon as the giving of the wrong
type of blood can cause serious
complications.
We are very fortunate In this
community to have an excellent
blood bank program. This pro
gram makes available to us
quantities and types of blood
that don't even exist In this area.
Rare types of blood are avail
able to us In this area through!
the Red Cross.

2. Crossmatching two differ
ent methods, $3.50 to $5.00. this
tests the bloods together In a test
tube to see If they will mix In
the patient's blood stream.
3. Blood processing fee $3.00.
This fee Is the same whether we
or the Red Cross draws the blood.
It Includes blood bottle, needles,
serological tests, storage, etc.
4. Blood administration iee
$3.00. Labor and supplies for giv
ing the blood.
I would like to point out that
a private blood bank not only
charges for the blood but also
has these same service fees to
add. At a private bank one pint
of blood can cost you SS0.00!
Space does not permit me to
go into detail on the many other
advantages we obtain from this
program such as fibrenogen,
frozen plasma, serum albumen,
and other blood products that
are available to us.
There is one essential thing
that must be done to keep this
program foing. The blood we use
