Coach Ole Johnson' Madras
cage quad kept their perfect
record for the season as uicy
downed the Heppner quintet
both nights on the Madras maple.
Friday night Heppner played the
best game of the two but were
still outclassed by the very
strong Buff team as they racked
up an 86 to 43 victory. Saturday
evening the Mustangs got wal
loped by 51 points as they lost
84 to 33.
This was the last series for six
Heppner boys who will graduate
In May. They are Tom Green,
Ron Gray, Larry Tibbies, Stuart
Grlbble, Dave Creswlck and Den
nis Dick .
Friday night both teams open
ed up the game fast with the
Hnnnner team staying within
one or two points until the mid
dle of the period ana tne wnue
Buffaloes settled down. The first
npriod was the only quarter of
the game that the Heppner team
was able to control tne uuns
at all. In the last three quarters,
Madras was hittlne from all
parts of the floor with Joe Pied
mont, Gregg Macy ana uarry
Moe leadine the way. From the
charity line Madras shot 65.
Tod scorer for the Heppner
ouintet and too for the game
was Sonny Blddle with 18 and
for Madras Garry Galbraith and
Garry Moe led with 16 each.
Saturday nleht. Heppner was
unable to do anything with the
Madras team as they waiKea
away with their biggest victory
of the season with a 51 point
lead. Heppner went down to the
league champ 84 to 33.
In the first half of play Mad
ras got 42 points and the Hep
pner team only tallied for 15.
The second half of play wa
not much better for the Heppner
team as Madras kept on rolling
up the points.
The Mustang cage squad end
ed the 19G0-61 season with 5 win
and 13 losses. They were tied
for the cellar in the league.
