come and gone, but happy mem
ories remain!
Over 200 4-H youngsters ex

cess when they took part In home
economics, livestock, and horse
activities at the fair In its four
Hnv run. It is truly the climax
of the 411 club year.
4-H leaders and parents were
also in there pitching to probote

public at the fair on Thursday,
the 4-H council booth, and the
4-H float for the parade.

Fnrthcomina Marriage
To Lance Tibbies
Mr and Mrs W E Sandquist of
Eugene announce the engage
ment and forthcoming marriage
of their daughter Patricia Kay,
to Warren Lance Tibbies, son of
Dr and Mrs L D Tibbies of Hep
pner. Both young people are students
at the University of Oregon. Miss
Sandquist will be a senior in
music education and Lance will
enter the University of Oregon
school of law this fall.
The wedding will be on Sep
tember 11 in Eugene.

The Roy Martin', the Jim
Bloodsworths' of Lexington and
the Garry Tulllses' of lone op
erated the "4-H milk bar", a
snack concession where sand
wiches, Ice cream, and milk were
disbursed for four days.
The 4-H dinner was under the
direction of Mrs L A McCabe,
lone; Mrs N C Anderson. Mrs
Douglas Drake and Mrs Andy
Van Scholack. Heppner. Over 300
people were served on Thursday.
Mrs Merritt Cray and Mr.
Taul Warren. Heppner. along
with girls of Mrs Gray's 4-H
club, created the 411 booth on
the "Rock-a-Bye Baby" theme
which highlighted the new Child
Care 4-H project now available
In the state
I played a new role on Sat
urday when I became the old
woman In the shoe on the 4-H
council float. The William Raw
lins', Louis Carlsons' and Ray
mond Lundells' of lone concocted
the biggest "shoe" you ever saw.
They built it on Lundell's truck.
It was a split level white shoe,
decorated with summer flowers
and a corn stalk roof that hous
ed 40 children.
One 4-H parent shouted at me,
"Dakota would never know you
now!"
A single gal with 40 kids?
They'd never believe it!
