Those on the panel were Dr E K Schaffitz, optom etrist of Heppner, who told of the effect TV had on the eyes; Mrs Harriet Hall, 1st grade teacher, gave a teacher's view point on TV; Mrs Roy Lindstrom gave some TV problems in the home and Rev Rod MacKenzie, pastor of the Community church gave the religious side of TV. Don Olmscheid, 8th grade tea cher was the moderator. They all brought out many good and bad sides of TV for children. A question and answer period fol lowed. Refreshments were served by Mrs Robert DeSpain, Mrs Alvln Melena, Mrs Pete Cannon, Mrs Walter Corley, Mrs James Bar. nett and Mrs Howard Crowell. The tables were decorated in keeping of Veteran's Day with flags and minature soldiers, etc. Garden Club Meats The Garden club meeting was held at the home of Mrs Walter Dobyns Tuesday afternoon, Nov 10 with Mrs Anna Lindstrom as co-hostess. Before the meet ing the members visited the pub lic library where the different sections were explained to them by Mrs Fannie Griffith, Mrs Roy Lindstrom and Mrs William Rawlins. They also stopped at the home of Mrs Edith Nichoson to see her mums display. At the business meeting con ducted by Mrs Fredrick Martin, president, reports were given on the flower show and the birth day party and little mum show. Mrs Ralph Crum, Mrs Walter Dobyns, Mrs Phil Emert and Mrs Sam Esteb visited the nursing home in the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Sept and Oct, Mrs Martin and Mrs Nichoson will visit in Nov. A demonstration on the use of cones will be held in the Little Vert theater in Pendleton, Nov 27, 28 and 29 and everyone is welcome to attend. Mrs Martin and Mrs William Rawlins attended a representa tive meeting of the Blue Moun tain district in Pendleton recen tly and reported that the Ore gon Federation of Garden clubs will meet in Pendleton, June 20, 21 and 22, I960. The lone club, the Pilot Rock club and the Echo club will make corsages and ta ble decorations for the conven tion. They plan to make wheat corsages. Christmas corsages will be made for the nursing patients in the Pioneer Memorial hospital A Christmas tree will be decor ated in the city park. Swags will be put up in the business houses and the 12th Night will be observed during Christmas holidays. Mrs Rawlins is chair man of the Christmas projects.
