period. Mr Stewart reported that
the Soroptimists found a place

The football helmets need re

ed to let manager, Tom Hay

Tom Driscoll will distribute
copies of HHS constitution to
all English classes for study and
suggested revision.
The council decided to have
different point ratings for pep
assemblies this year in a way
that no two classes can have
the same score. Four students
were chosen to rate the assem
blies and turn their reports In
to the council at the end of the
year.
Student council will head the
World Clothing Drive again this
year.

The FBLA cluh met October
20 to discuss money making pre
lects and other business. Com
mittees appointed to organize the
years program were planning,
handbook and ways and means.
Dues have been raised to $1.00
in order to have a larger amount
left for the local chapter.
A student council workshop
was attended by four students
and the student council adviser,
Mr Stewart, at Ontario October
19 and 20.
Tom Driscoll and Roseann Ay-
ers attended a discussion on
how to conduct an effective busi
ness meeting. Marion Biddle at
tended a discussion on how a
school builds a good reputation
or a bad one in a community.
Marlene Griffin, cheerleader,
went to a session on pep assem
blies and school spirit.
Leslie Keller of Hermiston and
Ted Thornstad of Umatilla spoke
at a special assembly Monday,
Oct 26, telling of their experien
ces In attending the United Na
tions this past summer.
These students were the win
ners of last year's United Nat
ions speech contest sponsored by
the IOOF lodge. The tour they
made took them Into Canada
and through many parts of the
United States. In Washington, D
C, some of the delegates visited
with their congressmen. A spec
ial feature of the Washington D
C portion of the trip was a tour
of the place where money Is
nvide.
While touring the UN, students
had an opportunity to see the
council in action and to see dele
gates from many other nations.
Eoth delegates expressed apprec
iation for the opportunity to
make such a tour.

SCOUTING NEWS
The Boy Scout troop of Hepp
ner met again on Wednesday
nicht at the Legion hall. Avery
Taylor, who is Scout master in
this area was in charge of the
meeting.
Projects were discussed at this
meeting and it was decided that
a workshop be sot up at Mr
Taylor's home so that the boys
can work on their hobbles. It
was also decided by the troop
that Avery Taylor should send
for hobby kits, such as leather
craft, copper tooling, wood car
ving sets and many others.
Avery Taylor has announced
that he is going to let the boys
use his power tools if they wish
to- do cabinet work or build
things out of wood.
The boys all had a good time.
